We called last minute to see if they had a room that was pet friendly. We got lucky and made our way from Lincolnville to Spruce Head. The main building was very nicely done and rather quaint and clean. The dining room was not elegant but what we expected with a view of the water. Our room was in the annex, a separate building across the parking lot. The pet friendly rooms are in that building. Our room was on the top floor and my wife had a hard time with all the stairs. The annex building is undergoing some repairs to railings and had some lights out at night. Walking the dog right before bedtime was dangerous with no lights. The room was allso a little dark but clean . Although we didnt use it, the TV was the smallest I have ever seen. Not luxurious at all. The bathroom was ok but the shower hardly worked due to low pressure. It was a terrible shower experience. Plus I like a large bar of soap in the shower and they only had shower jell. Owners said they were aware of the shower issue and were going to fix it. We forgot to ask what time breakfast was and got there late by 10 minutes (it was from 8 to 9) . Michael was nice enough to get us a muffin, coffee and a fruit cup. The breakfast mess up was our mistake for not asking . The room did not have an instructions sheet on the back of the door or elsewhere to tell us check out time, breakfast times , etc. The owners were very nice and I really wanted to rate this place higher, but the shower experience , the lack of lights and dangerous steps at night as well as the cost of the room (extra for the dog) was a little high considering the quality of the room and other similar places we have stayed in the peak of the summer. I would like to add that we ate dinner there and the salmon was really delicious. Service was good at dinner as well.

Not much positive to say about this place. Had a dark cave like atmosphere with concrete floors and brick walls, even though there were only 4 tables it was really loud and echo like. Ordered 2 orders of fish and chips and lobster tacos, after about 30 minutes I asked the waitress what the hold up was so she checked the kitchen and they claimed to have never received the order from her. Finally after an hour of wait time the food came out, 2 orders of fish and chips and lobster mac n cheese instead of the lobster tacos I ordered. At this point we weren't going to wait even longer so ate what was served. Fish and limp fries cooked in old grease and couldn't detect any lobster in the mac and if there was any lobster it was way overpowered by the really strong cheese used in the recipe. The management of the East Wind Inn takes this complaint very seriously and is investigating the circumstances of the complaint to determine how a problem such as this could have occurred. The incident described above does not meet our dining standards. We apologize to this reviewer and we invite the reviewer back. We will provide the reviewer with a complementary dinner. In fairness we must also state that the review does not describe the Quarry Tavern at the East Wind Inn. The Tavern does not have brick walls and a concrete floor nor "a cave like" atmosphere and the Tavern is fairly quiet even with a crowd seated at our 12 tables. One wall of the tavern is lined with windows facing the harbor. We have a beautiful wooden bar and finished floor. We are also known for generous portions of lobster in our lobster dishes.

We had the Duo........half of a crabmeat roll and half of a lobster roll. The seafood was not dressed with Mayo, which I would have liked but still delicious. We also had a beer, and the Wild Blue Salad and the ginger soda water. Everything was delicious. The salad was large and had lots of pickled blueberries. The view is worth the price of admission. The hosts were also very welcoming to our little dog. What a great place to have a special meal.

Very busy breakfast crowd had the staff running, including the owner. The service was good with a cheerful waitress . Our food was delivered promptly in spite of the large number of patrons and the food (eggs benedict) was good. We enjoyed a good breakfast experience.Thank you for the positive feedback. Sunday breakfast at the East Wind Inn is an institution on the St. George Peninsula not to be missed.

On the corner of 131 and Wallston Road is this wonderful place. Malcolm's cooking is outstanding. He brings some greatly appreciated options to the dining scene around Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. The food is prepared ahead and eaten on the site or it is great for take out. We were thrilled with the different offerings and definitely will return. Unfortunately, we discovered the place by word of mouth shortly before we left Maine. We hope the word will spread, more signage can be displayed and that Malcolm will be most successful in his venture sharing his cooking with the St. George peninsula.

Visited for an evening meal, in October, after summer tourist season. The dining room was closed but the tavern side was open with a limited, but very adequate, menu. Many locals there that night. Outgoing staff. Had the scallopsRockefeller on linguini, and my wife had the honey almond shrimp as a meal instead of an appetizer. All was excellent. Service also good. Scallops were first rate and learned owner is local guy in the scallop business. This was a good meal and a nice night out. My complements to management to have a menu the kitchen can really handle with fresh food choices available beyond the usuals. Will go back.

Other than the coffee we were so disappointed with the breakfast. Our orders were not what they were supposed to be (6) people. The wait was over an hour. No toast on one, no cheese on the eggs, and very runny eggs when we asked for over hard. This was a recommendation but clearly missed.I want to thank you for taking the time to write in today to share your experience with us! I apologize for your experience as that is certainly not what you should expect. I hope you'll return in the future so we can make it right! Sincerely, Linda L. Bean

This was pretty much the only place in the area so we decided to stop. It looks like a shack next to someone's house, and there's an outdoor seating area with a roof over it. There were some mosquitoes bothering us, but it wasn't too bad. The food itself was decent, prices were good.

The Dip Net Restaurant

Dockside Dining at it's Best! Located on the docks of Port Clyde we bring you fresh caught seafood 7 days a week, from May to October. We are opening for the season on Thursday, May 23rd!

Reviewed By waterandmore

We enjoyed the Dip Net several times over a period of weeks. The food is reliably good. Rather than go for the same things, we journeyed through the menu and only occasionally had one of the fried baskets, which are good but filling. Of those, the whole baby clam basket is best. A delightful lunch is with the Maine Summer Salad with grilled shrimp on top or the Maine Coast kelp salad with broiled haddock. We also like the blackened haddock tacos and haddock chowder. The burgers are quite good and so are the onion rings. The halibut bites and scallops are also very good. During busy times you will want to make a reservation especially if you want to sit in the shade. Relax and enjoy - the view and the happenings on the dock are quite fun.
