This is a good local restaurant located about half between Kailua-Kona and Hilo. The menu is very basic but fairly priced and enough entree selections that there should be something for everyone.

KMC is absolutely first rate. There is a Cafe, grocery store, Rec center, bowling alley and gas station...and the admin staff's hospitality combine to make the stay a memorable one. The cottages are beyond reproach. They've got all the comforts of home and are a mere mile from the Observatory! If you are authorized to stay at this Hale Koa-managed property---do it! You wont' regret it.

Even though there isn't glowing lava in the caldera anymore it's still a great view, and Uncle George's Lounge is a nice place from which to enjoy it. The drinks are good with several interesting combinations. The Hawaiian fish and chips are good but as another reviewer pointed out, they are a bit dry. The dish that really stood out for us however was the pan seared edamame - they're fantastic! Friendly service and well worth a stop in for a meal

Bigger than it looks from the outside, itâs nice that there are several options for meals when visiting Volcano National Park. This place is outside the park, but only a short drive away and your park entrance is good for ins and outs. Standard American fare on the menu. The service was ok, the meals took a little longer than expected and came out in groups, and it was as-expected quality. A decent option if youâre already in the area. We had a late lunch on a weekday.

We came here after exploring the volcano national park. We stopped in without a reservation about 8pm and they were more than obliging. We struck a really friendly, jovial waiter who was more than helpful when we asked about our egg allergy. The menu was extensive and we ended up ordering burgers. Unfortunately the buns of the burgers were brioche which contained egg and there was no other option without egg so we had a lettuce wrap. The burgers were delicious however. If you visited during the day time you would be able to see into the volcano crater however it was pitch black when we stopped in. The food came out super quick after we had placed our order. Definitely recommend!

We were on vacation on the Big Island and several people recommended this place. It did not disappoint. My husband and I arrived for dinner and were promptly seated. It is a large restaurant with plenty of seating and very clean and open. We started with the spring rolls some water and soda. The spring rolls were so good, but very hearty. You could make a meal out of them. For my entree, I had the Pad Kee Mae Noodles (drunken noodles) with pork. It was so good and truly enjoyed it. My husband had the thai style fried rice with chicken and he loved it, as well. They ask you how spicy you want your dinner and I went with a 1 and my husband did a 4. He felt it was spicy, but still enjoyed it. After the appetizer and entrees, we were too full for dessert. The service and food were so good and the prices were very reasonable.

6 of us stopped in for a light lunch. Everyone enjoyed their food. From Rueben sandwich to pork chops everything was very good. The slaw and Mac salad are best weâve found on the island. If back n the area, we all agreed it would be our go to place.

The food here was fabulous! KaâU Fish (Nairagi) was the fresh catch and it was one of the best fish plates Iâve ever had on the Island! It was really tasty and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The pizza had a nice thin crust and the sauce was great. This is a must visit restaurant! We are so happy that you enjoyed ohelo. Thank youa hui hou-tom

We visited for an evening meal on a Sunday evening whilst staying in volcano. We were glad to have prebooked as the restaurant was full. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great, we tried the fish, the duck and the risotto, all were delicious. The shop is useful, they sell cold wine and beer to take back to your accommodation which was useful.

Cafe Ono is located near the Volcano. It is a charming small resturant and gallery. The grounds are lovely! Service was good. Limited but interesting menu. I had the lasagna which came with soup and salad. Husband has the chili. Both were tasty. After eating , browsed the lovely gallery which has a variety of lovely things. This was a treat!
