and that is not hyperbole. It is small, it is personable, Sharon is there and the locals give as good as they take. Especially Charlie. The food is wonderfully basic, cheap and plentiful. Breakfast is the thing, for $5.00 you get coffee, toast or biscuit (make sure you tell them dry if you donât want butter), grits (make sure you tell them dry if you donât want butter) or hash browns, choice of meat, and choice of eggs. Come on, what is not to love? Plus you get to listen to all the locals giving each other all the love that opening a mouth can give. If you want a great sandwich order the chuckwagon; light mayo, light mustard, tomato, lettuce and onion. Wow, what a sandwich! The best in town and the region. OK, the hamburger and hot dog are good as well but so what! If you can get a seat then you are in for a treat! Ha, just made that up...
This is the best Newton eatery in our estimation. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The ceiling with the high gloss finished boards laid out allowing the light and speakers to hang through it was unique and added interest to the bar. It also had a nice bar that had what looked like very comfortable bar stools. We sat at a high top table up against the wall. Very well done. Our server was on top of everything and very accommodating. Their server to customer ratio was very high here as well. No issues with service from our stand point. We had a 14 oz. Ribeye steak with bacon mac and cheese and slaw. The steak was great, super tender and tasty. The sides were just okay. We also ordered the B52 Burger. It was dry and lacked saucing. We also ordered some very well done bar drinks. We enjoyed our time here at this place. We would return here when in the area on business.

5peice family pack $14 w a coupon, strips, biscuits, honey, butter, mashed poyatoes and gravy plus slaw. And it was 30 minites before they closed yet everything was fresh and De-Lish!Go here. Good food, good people.Cashier was very nice
Just visited this subway for the first time and it was fantastic. The sandwiches looked top notch, tasted just like what you would imagine a subway sandwich would taste. Then the service, the service was by far the best that I have ever experienced from a quick service restaurant. Every single one of the employees served me with a smile on their faces and did not fuss about a single thing. That is coming from one of the pickiest man on earth. Overall I am astounded by this jewel tucked in a gas station. I will most definitely be back again to be amazed. I hope they dont lose their flare.
Got there at 10:38, too late. Even after the waitperson said no grits and I said ok. Then within seconds no longer serving after 10:30. Did not even get to try them. So, go earlier next time.
Fill your cravings! Wings, Pizza, Subs, Pasta, Apps/Sides, Salads, Calzone, Gyro, Stromboli, deserts and more!!
OMG...walked in and over half the tables had not been bussed... They have been open for less than 2 weeks. The food was awesome! The pamesian garlic bread is to die for. The chicken Alfredo was fresh cooked, the Alfredo sauce was awesome! The lasagna was fresh baked to order. The salads were very crisp and the ranch dressing is homemade. The best part is the homemade garlic parmesan bread! OMG... delicious! Don't expect fast food as everything is cooked to order.I hope they are successful as this is needed in the Conover/Newton area.

Western Steer bakery & buffet has been a favorite of locals and travelers for many years. You can either order off of the menu or enjoy the buffet which includes soups, salad, meats, vegetables, yeast rolls and dessert. At Western Steer, we treat you like
Following a recommendation by our neighbor, we decided to try Western Steer. Traveling South bound on Southwest Blvd, watch for a large billboard in the trees on the right. The entrance is hidden on the right immediately after the trees. If you miss the entrance make a right at the light and there is another entrance on that side road. There is plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant is clean with friendly staff and plenty of table and chair or booth seating. If you are a senior, ask for senior pricing. They also have lunch and dinner pricing schedules. They have breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Check my pictures for the operating hours. The selection of items is large and the quality of the food is better than your average buffet. Ask the waitress for info on their rewards program.

Good food, home cooking. There's nothing fancy here. Homemade desserts and a daily special. Chicken pie is great. Love the homemade soups in the fall/winter. Everybody from construction workers to lawyers eat here. Don't be in a rush though. Burgers are cooked to order, and when it's busy it can take a bit.

We were fortunate to arrive at the lunch hour rush right before the noon hour. We grabbed one of the last booths (fortunately). We experienced good service. The food was good as well. We had the meat and two veggies and a Lox and bagel. The meat we selected was the chicken and dumplings. They were okay, nothing special. But the Lox and Bagel was really good. Overall this place was a pleasant surprise. It is a small busy place. We would recommend a visit when you are in the area. It is also a decent value. The meat and two veggies was $7.75.
