Don't expect attentive service at this small local eatery. Orders are taken at the register and you'll probably stand and wait while your food is prepared. Seating is at closely packed Cafe style tables. There's nothing exceptional about the food, but it's not a bad choice if you are planning to visit silvermine art center across the road. I agree with the reviewer who said the owner acts poorly to customers. He once admonished me for asking if there was any soup, since the soup season was over!!! (Who knew one can only eat soup in the dead of winter?)

Recently re-tried the Roger Sherman Inn for dinner on a Saturday night and really enjoyed it! We ate in the bar room with live music that wasn't too loud (our table was right next to it), and our party of 4 all enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. Will definitely be going back soon.

I go do diners a lot. I like the variety and speed getting in and out. The food is usually good, but nothing special. However, my meal last night was very un-diner-ish. Started with the beef barley soup. This was first-class. Good broth filled with veggies and beef. The roast chicken was very flavorful. The roast potatoes (I don't even remember seeing roast potatoes on most menus) were delicious and the string beans were fresh--not canned. Service was very good. Staff very friendly. Might be hard to find a parking space, but definitely worth the experience.

Cherry Street East is more than just a pub; it is part of the core of New Canaan. Established in 1977 it is known for the fresh ground burgers - the "best burgers" in the area - and down home comfort food. Nightly specials include Tuesday's wine night $20
The restaurant is on the rustic side. Not terrible but nothing memorable. The waitress was quick to seat us and take care of us. The menu is full of lots of comfort food options. We decided to do several of their appetizers. My girlfriend ordered the filet mug on sliders and I ordered the fried baby back ribs with a basket of fries. He filet mignon sliders were a sizable portion but it only came with Gorgonzola and a slice of tomato. It was cooked at a perfect temperature but it sort of left us wanting a bit more. The ribs were delicious. The fell off the bone and had plenty of barbecue sauce. I enjoyed our lunch but it did not blow me away. Not sure if I will come back to try other menu offerings.

The Elm was a delightful find following a tour of The Glass House for a late afternoon lunch. Although on a Monday holiday several menu offerings were not available, we thoroughly enjoyed all our selections. The tuna tartare was exceptional, as well as the freshly baked blue corn chips which accompanied the guacamole. Presentation of each order was visually appealing and delicious. Sitting at a table in the front window allowed for a comfortable view of this quaint town in Fairfield County, Connecticut on a beautiful fall day. Make sure you leave room for dessert a zappole were warm and served with orange marmalade, tea service and hot toddies were perfect!

The new location at 129 Elm Street is wonderful, allowing more of us fans to enjoy the splendid food and service of this restaurant! Had a wonderful lunch with friends there, including a lobster roll with butter (not lobster salad) that used to be available only at a great distance, and the best French fries ever!

We went as a family for a late breakfast. Prices were absurd! $14. for avocado toast and $12. for oatmeal? Waitress was totally apathetic. Never offered coffee refills, no water, and barely squeeked out a smile. Another waiter was seen walking with his thumb inside the pitcher of iced coffee...(ewe). I will never return. So many great places in New Canaan.

They were out of Branzino at 7:00 which was disappointing but the pork chop special was very good - just heavier than I had intended. Enjoyed the spicy tuna appetizer, the burrata and the salmon. The highlight was the delicious Spicy Cucumber drink - will try to make it at home. For the money I expect better than mediocre dish towels for napkins and the wooden chairs get uncomfortable before 2 hours . Ambiance does not match the food.

A delightful dining experience, especially for my VEGAN wife and daughter. Diverse and totally fresh menu, efficient and unobtrusive service. Kitchen more than willing to modify dishes for dietary preference and hyper-vigilant about allergies.Tip: street parking is scarce.

High end casual fare at great prices. Comfortable family friendly setting with full bar, happy hour daily and private banquet rooms available.
This is a nice local place with a lively bar and an energetic atmosphere. Service was excellent. The menu was fairly standard pub fare with some interesting twists. Get the burger with fried cheese curds and onion rings. It's a lot of meal, and even comes with a side of fries. Salads and main courses were good too. And they pour a really nice glass of wine. Check it out.Thank you for the kind words Parker. We hope to see you soon!
