the food was ok the service was slow and they didn't have 1/2 the beers they were supposed to have. So that is why the review was only average. Dear ogura98,Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We're so sorry to hear that you had this experience as this does not reflect the level of service and good quality we aim to deliver and are known for. I will be sharing your review with our leadership team to address the service, food and beer issues with our staff. We hope that you will give us another try soon.Thank you,

Not sure about the recent lousy reviews. Surprisingly bad. I had all different kinds of oysters and they were excellent. I also had a shrimp salad, and the grilled shrimp were tasty, and nicely grilled. My daughter had bacon wrapped scallops, which she enjoyed. Service was a tad slow, but we didnât say we were in a hurry. Nice atmosphere, and, pleasantly casual. Varied seafood menu with some non-seafood options. Good restaurant in my opinion.

Martin's Restaurant featuring "Home Style Cooking Since 1930's"Join us for Lunch or DinnerReservations AcceptedDine In OR Carry Out is Available
My wife and I ate here on a Friday afternoon/evening at about 5:00. There were very few patrons when we first walked in and we wondered if we had made a mistake, but we ended up being very pleased. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Our drink orders were taken and we were immediately brought a basket of homemade cornbread, which we both enjoyed while we waited for our meals. My wife ordered the chicken casserole dish, while I tried "Martin's Famous Fried Chicken", along with vegetables, and we each enjoyed our meals. The fried chicken was not the best I have ever eaten, but it was good and I was delighted that one of the side options was rice and gravy, a Southern tradition with fried chicken. My wife had so much chicken casserole that she had to request a "go box" and we were both so full that neither of us tried one of the desserts, which sounded delicious. The atmosphere is nothing special, but it is what you would expect in a comfort food/meat and three restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly and the prices seemed fair. We occasionally travel to Montgomery for business or pleasure and I believe that we will be returning to Martin's in the future.

Bama Bonafide Southern Cuisine found in the heart of downtown Montgomery, Alabama. Locally owned and responsible.
Good breakfast -- eggs, bacon, fried green tomato, grilled veggie, southern biscuit (great biscuit), Conecuh sausage was just ok (local specialty, had to try it), grits are fine, line to order moves slowly, but that gives tables plenty of time to clear. Bacon probably pre-cooked, over cooked to my tastes.

Service was good, food was good, atmosphere is good. The Auburn location is overall better. It did seem oddly humid inside although the temperature was comfortable. Main negative things: first, the pics on the wall by our booth had DIRTY glass--looked like old food dried on them, second, the women's room was already fairly dirty at 11:30 am.

Says on menu, ribs are grilled and things are exactly what you'd expect for that. They are tough and chewy to get off the bone. Not soft and tenderlike smoked ribs would be. Tough, the kind you need to work at, with lots of fat and gristle because they don't melt away as they do with slow cooking. This is cooking over high heat and it shows. This is the way the founder likes it as I hear. That being said, they tasted fine. Not smokey, but have a good rub and porky flavor. Rub flavor heavily depends on salt, but still ok. Only problem is for a big meaty St Louis rib, the rub doesn't flavor the center meat. I guess that is what the sauce is for. Sauce is nice and tangy good. Pulled pork is blah, bleh. No smoke flavor, no pork flavor. Needs the sauce. Not sure how cooked, since they don't smoke the ribs, doubt they smoke the pork shoulder. Oven? Anyway, while the ribs are ok, this isn't my kind of BBQ restaurant. I want smoked meat, not grilled meat.tb911, Thanks for your honest feedback. We've been doing this since 1958 and fortunately we've found that a lot of people enjoy the way we cook. Sorry it wasn't to your liking.

The Vintage Year is dedicated to providing our guests with the finest hand-cut meats, the freshest seafood and outstanding wines and spirits along with excellent service!
Had brunch on an earlier visit and did dinner this time with friends. Once our server got on her game, the evening was a success. For appetizers, the cheese board was a good assembly and we appreciated the explanation of types and origins of the offerings. Crab cakes were good. Vegetable pasta was a hit, but the table winner was the fried oyster special. Plump, succulent, lightly breaded and flash fried to perfection. Although we overheard that the head chef and assistant were not in the house, Vintage Year must have a pretty deep bench for food this good. Good wine selection and reasonably priced for this area.On behalf of the entire staff, we are pleased to hear that your visit was a success! We train everyone extensively to make for a great evening. It was nice to hear that you experienced this!

Good choice for diner and home cooking near the airport and right off I-65. Mostly locals when I was there. Good selection of home cooking style entrees like burgers, barbecue and fried chicken. The burger with pulled pork I had was good. The sides all looked good too and I liked the greens. Friendly service and family friendly with plenty of seating. They also do pick up. Good prices for good portions. No bar.

Central, located at 129 Coosa Street in the heart of Montgomery's Downtown entertainment district, offers a multicultural twist on southern classics highlighting local and seasonal ingredients under the direction of Executive Chef Leonardo Maurelli, III.
We came to Montgomery instead of Tuscaloosa to avoid the UofA football game and to celebrate our daughterâs birthday. We had high hopes and I can always pick the good restaurants to go but it was very disappointing and very expensive. Everything is relative but for a $400 meal for four people in Alabama, it needed to be really good. Gluten free is not gluten free when you deep fry the items in a common fryer and have no way to accommodate it. We had the charcuterie plate which was nice and I had the oysters w chorizo. It was good but two oysters had sand in them which is never good. My kids had salads and they were fine. My birthday girl had the short rib and it was quite good. My other child had the scallop and she said it was good as well but the portion seemed a little small. The plate was covered with chick peas and 4 medium scallops for $35 or so so that seemed a little high. I had the ribeye, could not have any potato (they were all fried) and it was not good. Medium was almost well done and barely pink. It was tasteless and was barely choice and almost select (thats the lowest grade of beef) and was grainy. My wife had the fish w ravioli. The fish was good but the pasta was hard..yes it was hard. We would not go back here and were bummed it was so lackluster for such a high cost. Yes, we have eaten at places like charlie trotters and Alinea and I did NOT expect that but we were not impressed.
