Reviews on American food in Manistee, Michigan, United States. Manistee is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,226 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Manistee County. The name "Manistee" is from an Ojibwe word first applied to the principal river of the county. The derivation is not certain, but it may be from ministigweyaa, "river with islands at its mouth". Other sources claim that it was an Ojibwe term meaning "spirit of the woods".

The first time we went it took 20 minutes to get a waitress to acknowledge us. Food was slow, although not bad. Poor service. Decided to give it another try. Different waitress, but uninterested in doing her job. Won't bother going back.

We went for the seafood buffet on Friday. It was quite good, all except the lobster tails, which, in my opinion, were horrible. I guess when you are used to fresh, frozen just doesn't do it. Other than that, the selections were great. We will go again.

We stopped in here while traveling in the area. Taco salad was good but too many onions. Unless you are an onion lover. Meatloaf dinner was ok. Cute diner off the beaten path. We like giving local places our business. Would try this place again if in the area.

First visit to North Channel. Had been recommended by a friend. My husband got a beer, and I had water. Very friendly and helpful staff that make you feel at home and valued as a customer. We came on a Monday afternoon so it was pretty slow. Variety of seats/tables. High chairs with hard wooden seats, metal stools - the kind that hurt your derrière after a while, booths, and regular tables. Merchandise for sale - shirts, pint glasses and beer glasses, etc. view of the brewing area. Several TV screens up high broadcasting sports. We had the nachos with the brisket. Wow! Excellent. The brisket was everything you want brisket to be - flavorful, some crispy fat - very flavorful, great meat, just delectable. We will be back. Menu - although gluten free items are not called out or noted, they do have a gluten free bun option for burgers. Soups and salads available without wheat. Menu had a few hard ciders and wines in addition to the beer. Outdoor patio available for eating outside. Wheelchair accessible. Large parking lot available across the street to the east.

The Fillmore was envisioned, designed, stocked, and staffed with one mission in mind to inspire local love, to invigorate downtown Manistee, to preserve the past of this beautiful place and move it into the future! Our dream was born from a love for beach
We had dinner at the Fillmore on a Saturday night. We had reservations for four. (I was happy to hear they took reservations.) They seemed uncertain about where to seat us when we arrived, and it went from there. Slow start with quite a wait before anyone took our drink order. Drinks came in stages, two, then another, and no drink for our fourth guest. He was first told they had no soda for his vodka/soda. His second choice was a no show. We asked our server again about it, and then had to ask the manager. Come on. We go out to enjoy good food and friendly, competent service. Not to be put on edge. Food arrived, but no napkins or silverware. And the server stood at the end of the table and passed the food out. We each had to reach and take our plates. It was annoying, and solidified our negative impression of the service. Hereâs the toughest part...the food was wonderful. Really delicious. Key lime shrimp pasta, fabulous salmon, great wrap sandwich . We would love to go back to eat that lovely cuisine again, but we wince at the thought of having to suffer through more dopey service. We appreciate your feedback regarding your service. Please, accept our apologies for the delayed and less than excellent service. The issues with the drinks on this particularly evening involved unfortunately waiting for a part to run CO2 for almost an hour - it was a malfunction that has been corrected. We hope you give us a chance to redeem our service. If you'd like to discuss this more please e-mail [email protected].

The Painted Lady is located in Manistee, MI it is the oldest operating saloon in town. The bar and tin ceiling are original from when it was built back in the late 1880's. When Bob and Linda Venne bought the building in 1994 they turned it into The Painte
Best Bloody Mary in town! Great to go to a breakfast place where you can get a Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Breakfast is delicious also. Service is fast and very friendly.

Blue Fish Kitchen features Great Lakes Fish and locally sourced meats and produce in a beautiful, historic 1895 building overlooking the Manistee River. In summer we feature dining on our deck. Open year round we also have a fun and relaxed bar, or a roma
The best compliment for Blue Fish is that we ate there two nights in a row. I suggest the warm smoked fish dip, grilled salmon and the whitefish. No room for dessert either night, but that shows the portions were ample. We stayed in town so walking to the Blue Fish is easy and interesting. Really nice staff.

The Bungalow has plenty of parking and is handicap accessible. It is a modern eatery that is nicely decorated and projects a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is a large, well-stocked bar upon entering. The dining room is large but still feels cozy. The menu was not large but covered all the bases. We both ordered sea food that was well cooked and tasty. Our only complaint is that this place is very busy (probably because it is good). They prepared for a crowd by providing beepers. It does not, however, have enough room for waiting customers. If you cannot stand a while, then don't go during peak hours. Because of the busy-ness, our waitress caught us on the run. We really did not get personal service but a hurried pass by. It was remarkable that our food came with only a short wait, considering the capacity of the restaurant.

This tiny place (a dozen tables?) was one we were willing to wait for, but they were able to seat us at a table in the very back right away on a busy weekend night during the dinner rush. We felt lucky! The drink specials were great values. They only offered two desserts, so we had one of each, and the lava cake was fantastic! I wish our wait staff didn't seem to upset/sad/depressed, but they were polite and brought us our food.
