After visiting family in the area we traveled down hey 59, saw this place and thought we would give it a try. Everyone claims they have the best seafood. It was very busy and yet every employee greeted us with a smile and a hello!! They have you order at the counter and bring your food to the table. It came out quickly and everything was delicious!! We ordered a seafood platter and 10 lbs of crawfish. Crawfish were perfect!!( wasnt too spicy Or salty) Also tried their corn, potatoes and mushrooms. All was good corn could have boiled longer we had so much food we had to bring it home!! Look forward to stopping by again when we are in town!!

South Louisiana Seafood cuisine
We were a party of five; four adults and a toddler. We had lunch at Rip's on the day of the Mande King Parade. We made a reservation as we walked in and we were seated promptly. I ordered fried green tomatoes appetizer topped with shrimp in remoulade sauce as my meal and a cup of seafood gumbo. The gumbo was really good. The fried green tomatoes were crispy and hot, but quite heavily covered in the sauce. My husband ordered a roast beef po-boy fully dressed, which he said was not excellent but very good. Our friends shared a fish and shrimp platter and said it was tasty. We were seated on the upstairs porch, which allowed us a wonderful view of the lake. Rip's website says that the restaurant is child friendly and they lived up to that with our little one!

We had lunch here based on good reviews and recommendations from friends. We were here during the week, and it was not crowded. Staff was very personable and friendly. We were immediately seated and as other reviewers have pointed out, the outside is nothing like the inside. Very relaxing place to eat. I am surprised they haven't done more to make the outside a little more welcoming, although the tables out front are nice. Good choices on the menu, we had the trout and chicken piccata. Both were very good, nice presentation; I would definitely get the trout again. Prices are good for the very tasty meal. We would recommend and will be back!

Southern Breakfast and Lunch in a quaint home built in the 1920's. We are open 7 days a week from 7:30am till 2:00pm.
Always a great spot for family and friends to meet for breakfast. Menu is very large but the food is always consistent. The staff does a great job of making you feel welcome and love the efficiency. If you havenât been here you need to check it out.

BB menu is the most diverse menu anywhere, without being huge like chain restaurants. Happy hour is great, Martini Tuesdays has the best martinis in town. The service is great - ask for Emmy. I have several favorites, starting with the turkey burger, lemon chicken, Mediterranean Pasta, and grilled vegetables - not all at once. Outdoor covered seating also .

We had a turkey burger and a chicken bbq sandwich and both were nothing special. Beer and wine was a reasonable price. We would choose elsewhere next time.

I don't know about everybody else but I've been to just about every seafood or po boy place on the Gulf coast. This is average and overcrowded because of the space, the po boy was average but the prices were way above average. No thank you I'll find some place else to go.

Recently visited The Half Shell with a family member. We ordered a dozen raw oysters and the crab cake appetizer. The oysters were extremely small and dry. The crab cakes were small, pan fried and had a below average flavor. We ordered bisque and half fried oysters and fried shrimp. The bisque was excellent, shrimp were good, oysters were way over cooked. Drinks were good, along with the service. Very nice atmosphere. I will not return due to the food quality. Very expensive for what we received. For the prices, quality should have been much better. Dear tmitchell38305,We are so sorry to hear about your experience at the Covington location. We didn't live up to the high standards that we are known for. We have contacted the location about your experience and we will be in the restaurant to look at the problem. If you ever have any issues with the food, please contact the General Manager of the location. thank you for your feedback.
