went with other adventurous friends to scout out this place, had reservations, seated promptly, restaurant in small street level corner building away from the noise of downtown Harrisburg, fine smallish menu, we had the meat and cheese appetizer (good) and the puffs (wow- very good), had the snakehead (fish) special - excellent, the duck confit - excellent and the gnocchi - very good, creme brule and chocolate pot de creme (excellent), fine limited wine menu, fun engaging and attentive staff, portion sizes were good, prices were reasonable, will certainly return

Two visits last weekend. First visit, black bean burger for vegetarian in our group, nicely done. Pretty good pizza. Service was good. Second visit food good, but our waitress was odd. Gave us very monosyllabic answers, made us feel a bit awkward. The food was good. Maybe we caught the server on a bad night. Federal Taphouse is a good casual spot in Harrisburg, one of the better sports bars in town.

Stopped here on our way through the area. Small little sandwich shop with maybe ten table available to eat-in. We ordered the philly cheese steak with the fresh mozzarella, which was very delish. We ordered the tuna hoagie to take with us and ate later that evening for dinner. Probably one of the best tuna hoagies we've had in a long time. Hope to stop here again if ever in the area.

I have been to the Pizza Grille several times and every time the food and service is great. Last night we had a group of 8 and everyone had a good meal. It is also a BYOB and took some wine to enjoy with our salads and pizza. The margarita pizza is my favorite, but I have had others that were good too. You can order wheat or plain dough and it has the homemade taste with fresh ingredients. the chopped chicken salad and eggplant rotini is another favorite. Andrew was our server and he was attentive to our larger group. I had dessert for a first and we ordered 4 different and shared..., again all delicious! The crème brulee was my favorite. It gets busy quickly at dinner time so be prepared to wait or go early. They do not take reservations. This place is a local favorite and very popular.

Dodge City Steakhouse

Reviewed By MrOcho

This was my first time to this restaurant that was featured on Restaurant Impossible, starring Michael Irvine. It does not have much curb appeal but once inside you forget about the busy road outside. There is a main, but split, dining room that holds about 60 people and another smaller area hidden in the back that seats around 28 by the small U-shaped bar. The décor uses the principle that less is more with its simple yet classy western accents. I did not see the owners (Doug / Debbie) or their son Dougie (Chef) during my visit. Access to and from Route 83 is simple. The menu is simple yet diverse, being only one page. They do sell beer, wine and mixed drinks. The night I dined the back was empty and the front was about 80% occupied. Tables were quickly cleared and reset which is a dying art in a lot of places. I would call this Dodge City a poor man’s upscale steakhouse. There are no cloth napkins or tablecloths and the staff are casually dressed in black logo t-shirts and blue jeans. No there isn’t any sawdust on the floor, lol! And yes, Michael’s highly recommended flooring looked great in the moderately lit restaurant. My meal was served with proper pauses between which I also find rare since all too these days everything is served at once. My order was the Baked French Onion Soup Au Gratin ($5) - Hearty beef broth, onions, crouton, melted Gruyere cheese, the Braised Bison Tacos ($11) - House braised bison, onion, lettuce, tomato, cheese, flour tortilla, tomatillo picante sauce and the Balsamic Marinated Hanger Steak ($20) - Grilled, sliced, smoked tomato & spinach bleu cheese orzo, red wine demi-glace. I was started with two fresh dinner rolls and cinnamon butter. They provide a western steak knife as an accent piece however it does a nice job cutting the rolls! What I Liked:- Fresh rolls are always welcomed- The onion soup was not too salty, and the onions were sweet- The Gruyere cheese worked well, more flavor than mozzarella and not stringy to eat- Thy did not skimp on the shredded bison- The hanger steak (served pre-sliced) was cooked to perfection, very tender and juicy. Overall excellent. My suggestion would be to consider adding peppercorns to the balsamic vinegar marinate.- The risotto worked very well with the bleu cheese ... great favor!- The steak knives (rolls and entrée) were of real man qualityWhat I Did Not Like:- Not a fan of cinnamon butter- The cheese and bread in the onion soup adhered to each other making it impossible to break with a spoon. I had to use a fork to shred pieces off.- The mild flavored bison was overpowered by the bitterness of the dry lettuce. I recommend they add something to the lettuce, reduce the amount of it or use a sweeter lettuce variety.- There was no tomato in the risotto and the spinach was cooked down to nothingMy Prime Minister of Beef rating is 9/10 Moo’s landing this place at the #2 spot of the 17 places I have had beef at in the Carlisle area since February 2019.My overall rating placed this restaurant at #2 of the 81 restaurants I have eaten at in the area since February 2019.

The Millworks

The Millworks features a brewery, a rooftop biergarten, a local & sustainable restaurant, an outdoor courtyard, and 3 art galleries with 23 artist studios...all under one roof.

Typical trendy brewery/"farm to table" place. The view from the bar was nice overlooking the courtyard which unfortunately we could not use due to the rain. The bartenders were friendly. All of the staff were really young and bit unpolished. I bought something rather nice at the gift shop "gallery" and they threw it in the bottom of a bag. The waitress was nice but in a real rush to clear our plates and glasses. The food was ok, the rice in my dish was barely cooked at all. The beer was good, typical craft beer stuff. It was nice to be able to take 6 packs and even individual cans and bottles home. Would have liked more info on the history of the place. There were artists' studios we were told we could visit upstairs, but we felt really awkward walking in on the sole person working up there.

We just happened to be in Harrisburg on our way to Chadds Ford and stumbled upon Home231. What a pleasant surprise! We decided to try some”shares”We had the duck meatballs, General Tso cauliflower, beignets,And an appetizer somewhat like scotch eggs. We were really impressed with the flavors. They were unique and refreshingly different. Very friendly bartender who helped us to make some excellent choices. Would return in a heartbeat and if the entrées are anything like the appetizers should be an excellent place for dinner.

My date and I went here for dessert and drinks. I ordered the special of the night~ brownie creme brulee and a millionaire's coffee. My date ordered their signature mojito. The creme brulee was orgasmic, I kid you not. With each bite I literally was like oh my goodness this is so good, oohhh ahhhh mmmmmm. Seriously! The drinks were fabulous as well and I do not even like mojitos normally, but this one was out of this world. My only complaint was the waiter we had. Normally, the wait staff is above par and simply exceptional. Ours, was attentive, but to the extreme. He could clearly see we were on a date, we told him as much, and we asked to be given some time alone and we would let him know if he was needed. He had other tables, so I do not understand what his hurry was as we felt like he was pushing constantly for us to leave (we were quiet and keeping to ourselves). His other tables were no where close to being done, so even if we left, he still had at least two other tables still there, which meant he could not leave anyways. He was just kind of annoying and definitely took away from our date being peaceful and romantic. The owner had died very recently, so maybe that was the issue as this has never happened before. Regardless, the food and drinks are fantastic and I would highly recommend both.Hello! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your drinks and your meal! Our creme brulee is made in-house daily, and our signature drinks are all hand-crafted by our highly skilled bartenders. We will most certainly share your commendations with them!We are sorry to hear that your server came across as overbearing -- our goal at Café Fresco Center City is to exceed guest expectations in food and in service, but it is never our intention to make a guest feel rushed or annoyed. We sincerely apologize for that. We certainly hope you will consider us on your next date night, and when you call to make your reservation, please let us know you would like an intimate, more private table. We can take extra steps in choosing your table and overseeing your service to ensure we deliver the experience you expect when out for a romantic evening. While we miss Nick dearly, we did want to mention that he sold Café Fresco Center City to us almost five years ago. We were extremely thankful for the opportunity to be mentored by one of the best in the business, and we strive everyday to carry on the legacy he created. Like him, we sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and your five star review! We hope to see you again soon!
