Wife and I had dinner here with a friend. Looks like an old fashioned Soda Shop and still has the bar and stools! I had the pizza buffet. All the pizza I tried was excellent and was piping hot! Wife and her friend had sandwiches, and both said their dinner was excellent. Loved the atmosphere, good service and friendly people. Worth the drive to find this little place! We will definitely eat here again!

Lunch with old friends was great. Tenderloin is best ever. Great beer selection. Pricing is fair. Service was great.

Great little diner. We enjoyed 2 meals here, 1st time was the buffet dinner and then another day breakfast. I preferred the breakfast but I'm more of a breakfast person. However my husband enjoyed the dinner buffet. Will return next time in the area.

When the newly built Blue Gate Restaurant & Bakery opened it doors on August 4th, 2001 in Shipshewana, the entire town was invited over for dinner. As one of Indiana's largest restaurants, the Blue Gate comfortably seats 600 (more than the town's populati
We chose the buffet which includes dessert and only a couple of more dollars than eating off the menu. Food was very good and a nice assortment.

Went for lunch, place was filled with locals as staff seemed to know everyone. Not a huge restaurant, more like a diner. Seat yourself and look at the daily specials. Service was prompt and friendly. Lots of menu choices and breakfast is served all day. We ordered the daily special cheeseburger and a bacon/cheese omelet. Burger was delicious and cooked to order, omelette was huge and filled with delicious bacon. When we paid at the counter, the owner was at the register. He was so personable and friendly, giving us his history of moving to this area from Chicago and being of Greek ancestry. Explains the Greek offerings on the menu. If you are hungry, donât pass by this place. We will return!
We ordered 3 salads - almost $20.00. We order Subway salads for carry out alot and expected something similar. The order was bagged up, as usual and when we got to our stop to eat there was about a single cup of product in the bowl. About half the size of a McDonalds side salad. I called the manager and she told me that was impossible. Very rude and argumentative. I told her I did not want other salads, did not want a credit - I was just calling her to let her know she had a serious quality control issue. She did not want to hear it. We won't be back.
We were in LaGrange for a meeting and went to lunch for the first time at Grossmans. They had a chicken salad sandwich on the special board, so I tried it. Wow! Someone in the kitchen has a creative side and it was one of the best blends, if not the best, that I've ever had. Along with the normal ingredients, there were banana peppers, cucumber chunks and some bleu cheese chunks. None were overwhelming, but just enough to give some fun flavor bursts. Our companions ordered house and seasonal salads. Those looked far more interesting than most restaurants offer. I wasn't expecting anything this exceptional in a small town restaurant. I'm giving it a 4 only because I haven't tried anything else on the menu, so can't comment on the other food.
Located just off Hwy 20 they have lots of off-street parking. The menu is the same as our previous visit 2 years ago - home cooked comfort food. Note - only open for breakfast and lunch, no longer open for dinner. We stopped in for breakfast with 2 other couples and were quickly shown to a table. The waitress arrived promptly and took drinks orders and was very pleasant and efficient. The meals were not served at the same time, with 2 meals arriving, followed by a 4 to 5 minute gap for 3 more meals, then a lengthy wait for the last meal to arrive. The portions are generous, but mine was not served hot. Most unfortunate, as on 2 previous visits the food was exceptional.
Fresh burgers, house-smoked meats, craft beer, and specialty cocktails in historic LaGrange, Indiana. Now a nano-brewery and LaGrange County's very first brewery, with a rotating tap list of in-house brews and other great craft beer.
Stopped in for something different than bland local flavor and fried everything and got what we were looking for. Had burgers and fries. Fries were above par and burgers were absolutely savory. Very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back without the kids for date night to take advantage of their extensive beer list and try out their specialty drinks. We're thrilled we were able to be exactly what you were looking for! Thanks for taking the time to leave this wonderful feedback, and we hope to see you for date night!
