I've always enjoyed this place, and never had a meal there that wasn't excellent. From the raw bar items, to appetizers, to entrees, you name it -- excellent! The same applies to drinks at the bar before and after dinner. The owner, I believe his name is John, is present, hands-on, and a nice guy. Personable, takes pride in his place, the food that comes out of the kitchen, and is a top notch owner-operator. The service staff, is excellent. They know their craft and make sure you have a good experience. The only downside -- and it's the only thing I will point out -- is this "manager" type young man who is there. I dealt with him before dinner and after. His name is Victor. In simply asking a question, about my table, time-frame, etc. -- he immediately had this dismissive attitude, almost demeaning. Having been in this industry for my entire adult life, I understand the dynamic, both from the client/customer/consumer perspective, as well as from the owner/management perspective. Unfortunately, this young man doesn't have the temperament for the business. He is more interested in making his point, and being right, than actually hearing what the customer has to say. Victor interrupted me, and my associate, and my associate's wife, more than once. He made sure he talked over us. It was more unprofessional, than rude. Somewhat passive aggressive. Dealing with someone like this can put a damper on one's evening, and the overall experience. He should learn how to deal with people, communicate with them more efficiently and effectively, and simply learn how to treat people. However, I will always go back here, and just make sure I don't have to deal with or interact with Victor.

Same location for 30 years--recently re-opened after a kitchen fire.
Located across from a small town park in this charming Bergen County town, the Iron Horse is near the railroad station, thus it's name. The restaurant looks old, from its narrow two step walk up entrance, bead board walls, worn carpet and tin ceiling and aged tables and chairs. At some point, years ago, it looks as if they expanded into an adjacent store. This left several rooms at different levels, so you are walking up and down several small stairs. This may prove difficult for some and impossible for a wheel chair. On this early Friday evening, the place was mostly empty and we were seated immediately. The menu featured burgers stuffed with various cheeses, their specialty, we were told. Also were salads, sandwiches and some specials. Friday is Prime Rib and this is what I ordered, while my partner had the Chicken Salad Cheese melt served on English muffin, an unusual combination to say the least. Our meal started with Homemade Cole slaw and pickles, another house tradition. It proves fresh, tangy and homemade. My meal includes a Caesar Salad, baked potato with a generous amount of Sour Cream on the side and an ample cut of prime rib ( I ordered the smaller of the two sizes offered.) The rib was cooked as I requested and was good and the Chicken salad was large chicken chunks and obviously house made. The thick layer of melted cheddar, started off tasting good, but later became overwhelming and was removed. The Fries that accompanied the sanwich were also good. We were offered drinks from the bar, and there were a few interesting specials but we did not sample. The restaurant is an establishment that has grown with the town over the years and it can use a face lift. But the food is honest, homemade and good and a local favorite.Parking is on the street and usually available close by.

Normally- love the food, atmosphere, etc. Great spot. Nothing fancy, but fresh bar food, lots of space, live music, and nice bar for a casual night. But recently I met a friend there, and while sitting at the bar, I had to cover my drink several times as the bald, male bartender walked back and forth SNEEZING right into the open air WITHOUT covering his mouth.I picked up my drink and covered it several times as he continued the whole time we were there. He wasn't the friendliest bartender either, and was rude when I asked for more ice. I finished my drink and had no desire to order another from the sneezer, so we went somewhere else. Absolutely unacceptable and GROSS. Listen, I have spring allergies too. But common courtesy, and something I learned as a child is to COVER YOUR MOUTH when you sneeze or cough. Especially if you work in a restaurant. Health 101 in food/drink service is to turn AWAY from the guests, and use the corner of your arm, or a tissue to sneeze into. Not to sneeze into the air, facing people! Again, normally love to hang out here, but never encountered this bartender before and it has completely turned me off from coming back. I'd be even more skeeved out if we had ordered food. Def wouldn't want to be anywhere near this guy during flu season. Someone teach him basic life skills, please, so we can come back and enjoy your restaurant.

Come experience "The Fondue Effect" at Bergen County's favorite celebration restaurant. We have the recipe to make all your occasions special. Relax in our private, elegant atmosphere and let our attentive servers guide you through our selection of cheese
This is our family's favorite restaurant. We usually get the 4 course meal and the cheese & chocolate fondue is definitely everyone's favorite. We've been to other Melting Pot locations and fondue restaurants and none were as good as this one in Westwood.

We came here for dinner on a Tuesday night at about 6:00pm. We were greeted cordially and seated right away. The smell of BBQ filled the air, and we were immediately anticipating some great food. We were not disappointed. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Texas Tots for an appetizer and the three meat combo for our meal. We chose the brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage. The Tots were great, being totally smothered with cheese and the toppings. The combo was also very good. It came with three sauces, and the portions were quite adequate. (In the picture I took of our combo I had already taken a slice of the brisket!) For dessert we had the apple fritters, which were entirely delicious. We finished our meal feeling not only full but very satisfied. Considering what we got for the price we paid, we felt it was a very good meal and a decent bargain.I have only two minor criticisms about our meal. The first is the size of the side dishes. I felt they were on the small side, and each one was enough for just one person. So with a combo, you can either choose one whole side for yourself, or split them both and have two half-portions per person. The second criticism was the white bread that came with our combo. If I recall correctly, there were 5 or 6 slices that came with the meal. I have nothing against white bread, but this was like your basic store-bought, no name brand version. Something a little nicer, or perhaps a roll or two, might have been better. For these reasons the place gets four dots instead of five.Overall, the experience was definitely worth it, and we got a good meal for the price we paid. If we are in the area again, we would not hesitate to eat there again. If you found my review helpful, please consider clicking the green thumbs-up button. Thank you!

Best gluten-free, allergen-friendly, healthy, artisanal cocktails, girls night out, organic wines, lunch, brunch, dinner. Globally inspired, thoughtfully sourced, eclectic cuisine in a Zen-like, elegant ambience.
Our favorite place lately. All the dishes are inventive, delicious, and made with sustainable/antibiotic & hormone free foods. Beautiful restaurant, excellent cocktails with choice of two different sizes, and friendly service. Very accommodating to modifications (health/diet reasons), which we very much appreciate. Absolutely love it!

This is a real foodie place. It's an old-fashion diner type place aesthetically, but beyond that....food, excellent food, and more excellent food. You go here for the food. Period. It's no frills, nice music, rock and roll theme, but it's all about the food. The menu is a bit eclectic ranging from a delicious chicken salad, to a veal special, to a pasta, to a hanger steak, lobster bisque, a lobster roll, short-rib ravioli, and more. There's excellent flavor and taste in everything -- and the flavor is just layered into all of the ingredients. You get all of the nuances of taste and flavor. Last time I was there, I had crab bisque -- done perfectly. Excellent flavor, perfect consistency, not to pastey or thick, and not thin or watery. Loaded with crab, vegetables, and whatever else they use. I then moved on to a short-rib ravioli, topped off with some hanger steak. I can't say enough -- taste, in each of the ingredients, all of the flavor profile, coming through -- just excellent.
