We visited with some old friends passing through for the holidays, met at the Country Kitchen.. (I picked up the bill, by the way.) Waitress was attentive, orders were delivered in good time. I tried the Chicken BLT salad (with Italian dressing), just to do it. All very food! If you want a sit down restaurant serving "comfort food" you should do just fine here.

Stopped in for lunch and got the wings and a couple beers. The server was very friendly and very talkative :) The food was average and the local beers were cold. Nothing remarkable, but nothing bad either. I would have given this a rating of four except for one problem. When an establishment does not accept Credit Cards people should be told up front, not after they go to pay for their meal! If you attempt to pay with a credit card you will be pointed to their onsite ATM which charges several dollars per transaction....this is rude and very shady. I suspect they make more off the ATM than they do the food!

We asked a local for where they would go for dinner and they suggested Ole Planters. We could not have been happier. The restaurant had been there for years and its decor suggested this in a charming way. The dinners were a mix of locals and visitors. The
I don't like to write bad reviews, but honestly, I just felt this restuarant wasn't trying. The food was barely edible, and we are not picky eaters. I ordered the rueben sandwich, which was made with dry unflavorful ham, toasted wheat bread, and some kind of blah mayo (instead of corn beef, rye & thousand island). I wouldn't have minded the substitutions....but it just tasted bad. And the sauerkraut was kinda brown. What's that about? Potatoe chips were stale. Even the dill pickles tasted weak. My husband had lasagna, that he said was pretty bad. They brag about their homemade pies, so I though maybe that would be their saving grace. I couldn't even finish mine, and my husbands choc pie was warm!! The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. The final insult was when we left the restuarant. It seems they closed after lunch. So, while patrons were still eating, the fallen table scraps from under tables were being swept to the middle of the floor in front of the exit. So I had to walk thru about 15 feet of food scraps to get out the door!!! Unbelievable!!! Wait to clean until all guest have left, or use a sweeper that scoops that mess up. It is rude to expect guests to walk thru it. Gross!

Arrived about 11:30. We were seated right away. Ordered our food. Husband had a Tenderloin sandwich, he said it was fine. I had pulled pork. Huge helping so I took some home for lunch the next day. One thing I don't like is when you pay and waitress wants to know if we wanted our change back.... when we had already had her tip on the table. I'm thinking just give me the change back and I will decide what to do with my money. Food was OK , services was good this trip ,

Best place in town to eat from my experience. Food is consistently good and service is great.I'd recommend eating in rather than to go, that seems to be their only weakness. I ordered take out and it wasnt near as good or same quantity as eating in. It is consistently good.

Locally owned restaurant that shares parking lot with Motel 6
We stayed at one of the motels across the parking lot at the midpoint of a trip. This place was so close that we decided to just have breakfast there. Iâm not sure if we caught an off day or what (it was a Friday though, not a weekend) but the service time was ridiculous! It was mostly full but not jam-packed. We might have waited five minutes for a table, if that. Our server was nice enough and took our order in a reasonable amount of time, but thatâs when time began to stand still. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food to come out. Everyone around us seemed to be in the same boat. By the time we got there til the time we left was an hour and twenty minutes for a basic breakfast. Since we were trying to just have breakfast and get on the road to our destination, this kind of screwed up our schedule for most of the day. If I were rating it on just food and value, I would give it 4 stars and would certainly go back if I were passing through there again. The food itself was fine and fairly typical family restaurant food, but good. Unfortunately the long wait for the food dropped my rating. Like I said, maybe it was just an off day or time for some reason.

Sampled a couple brews on first day in Hannibal. Met our bartender, Latisha. She was so sweet and helpful with suggestions. We ordered the âBig Assâ pretzel (and yes thatâs its name)! It was fantastic! Served with their homemade mustard, beer cheese, and pickles. Delicious!! My best friend and I were extremely surprised by how good the beers actually were. We enjoyed the service, the beer, and the pretzel so much we came back the next day! Tried a couple different beers. Some I liked, some I didnât. All depends on personal preference. Latisha greeted us with a big smile. This time we sat upstairs and enjoyed a great view of the river. Tried the boneless wings...dried ranch rub and sweet chili. They were okay. Hard to mess up boneless wings. Definitely ask for Latisha when you go! A must do in Hannibal to relax and plan your next excursion in Hannibal!

The Mark Twain Dinette has been a Hannibal tradition and must-stop destination since 1942. We are known for our Maid-Rites, homemade frosty mugs of root beer, famous breaded onion rings, and tenderloins. There was a transfer of ownership as of April 1st,
Best Price, Best Servers. Good Food. AMAZING Housemade Rootbeer in a unique Diner'esque atmosphere. I wish we would have tried it sooner! Oh, and Maid-Rite's done right!

A local tradition featuring classic home-cooked foods in the heart of Hannibal, Missouri. Now under new ownership! Open Monday through Saturday from 6:00am-2:00pm for lunch and breakfast. Closed Monday.
Great retro diner in downtown. Lunch was excellent, served quickly by friendly waitress. Would recommend the chili and open faced beef sandwich.

The menu was surprisingly broad in offerings and in price range. We all had the almond crusted tilapia, but I almost opted for the go green salad because it was different than most. The fish was done very nicely. The sweet potato medalions were very goood. We had enough room for dessert. The carrot cake was large and moist; the key lime desert was well flavored.Service was prompt and courteous, even in a very busy time frame. The noise level was not too bad.
