2 friends & went to dinner last Saturday to Sportsman Club. It was my first visit. We were attending the Alton Symphonic orchestra performance afterwards. We were seated quickly & received our drinks promptly. The Sportsman club used to be a members only club but is now open to the public also. Note ..there are 2 different prices for each entree but non member prices are only about $2.00 more. I ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes & gravy, & green beans. I thought it was all very good. There was a salad bar but I didn't get that. I had a taste of my friend's chicken livers & was really good also. It did take a little while to get our food but was worth the wait. I want to return & try something else. The bar was separate from the dining area. They begin serving dinner @ 5pm & it wasn't that busy but when we left about 90 minutes later they were . There was a wedding reception going on in another room but was separate from dining area. I was glad we checked out the Sportsman Club.

Mainly go for breakfast but have here at supper time. Food has always been great. Waitresses are all good at they're jobs, friendly and courteous. You never have to ask for a refill on your drinks. Favorite meal.... Breakfast horseshoe and u better be hungry, or settle for the pony shoe. Great place

Bluff City Grill is located in Downtown Alton, IL on the heart of Broadway just minutes from the Clark Bridge and Alton Amphitheatre. We offer a diverse menu, a relaxing lounge & sports bar featuring 14 TV's to watch all your favorite sporting events, and
Wide range of options here so there's something for everyone. The chicken breast with angel hair pasta and "sherry cream sauce" and mushrooms was a delightfully good surprise. The "three little pigs" sandwich was excellent (bacon, ham, pulled pork). Several other options on the menu that looked very appealing; sorry we didn't have time to come back again this trip. Will definitely be back. The bar is a full bar, with a variety of interesting looking drinks. Very disappointed in the Cadillac margarita -- came in a large 16 oz glass with plenty of ice -- but had orange juice and Sierra Mist soda in it. Tasted more like a kiddie cocktail punch. Had a decent wine list and will select off of it next time.Overall, thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. There's both a bar area with tables, as well as a dining room area on the other side of the wall. Nice decor; nice bathrooms. Will definitely be back.

Now that I'm retired, I have more opportunities to go out for breakfast and this is my first choice. Eggs Benedict is hard to find locally. Luckily the Eggs Benedict is excellent at Joe K's. I've been told that the rest of the breakfast offerings are good too, although I don't know that from personal experience! ;-}Every waitress we've had has been excellent too!

Service was so-so and food was the same. Husband said he makes better French toast at home. My eggs Benedict wasnât as good as Perkins and thereâs is just ok. Had find our waitress to get the check and she had forgotten us along with my husbands milk. She asked us what we wanted like we were annoying children. Just stopping through the area so maybe this was a one time bad meal.

We were taken here by friends who are regulars. The interior's nothing fancy but pleasant. There's a vast menu of sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta, etc. etc, etc. Portions are very large. I had soup and salad bar. The salad bar was, again, classic midwestern - only iceberg lettuce, bacon, salami, and ham among the offerings, a bit skimpy on actual vegetables. Tomatoes and cucumbers but no radishes, celery, carrots, peas, artichoke hearts, broccoli, mushrooms, or peppers. No fresh fruit. The soup was just OK - worse than Campbell's. Others had chili - excellent, a taco salad - huge and very good, and french fries -excellent.. Prices are moderate. My friends love it. I thought it was pretty good.
Premium frozen treats and a full service espresso bar, including cones, sundaes, concretes, shakes, smoothies, lattes, cappuccinos, and many more.
We love going to Shivers for frozen custard! It is excellent quality, taste, and service. We go there often, take friends and family there, and highly recommend it!

This is 2nd day of restaurant week in the Alton area. I chose to go to Carver's as I hadn't been there in a long time. Their special was the large salad with a drink. I ordered the pulled pork salad & was excellent...the meat was so tender. The lettuce was crisp & I didn't see any dark spots on lettuce. The waitress was great! I would return again as a friend told me the nachos were good too.

Saw my Sister in Laws review and gave this place a try. It was a bit chilly when we were in for dinner but having said that, I really like this place. The food is so well prepared, from plating to taste, a delight. This is a step up from your casual dining experience. For in culinary talent, these folks excel. No dress code and not super fancy, but you can really tell from the fine work of the chefs you have had a worthwhile experience. A fine job behind the bar as well. And don't miss the deserts. This place is new and so very clean. The menu is set to impress by not being too big. Key to being able to do it right. I gotta try the Sunday brunch here.

After several visits shopping, decided to try the tea room for birthday lunch for my sister. I made reservations 2 weeks prior. They were very busy, as usual, so checked in about 10 minutes early. There were many people without reservations. After 40 minute wait, we were finally seated. We decided to forgo lunch and just have dessert. Portions were huge and we definitely wanted to try the desserts. Waitress was not very pleasant. Finally brought a dessert tray with hardly any desserts. When we ask for other desserts that we could clearly see from our table, we were told they were out. So, we selected from what was on the tray. They were all good, just not what we wanted. Doubt we will ever try the tea room again! Shopping was great as were all the staff in the shops!
