Since 1975, the Iron Skillet Restaurant has been cooking up fresh food served by friendly folks. From our hand-cut steaks to hand peeled, fresh mashed potatoes, to the Best Buffet on the highway, you'll see why professional drivers vote Iron Skillet their
This place is new, if you're from the area then you would know that this was the old "Steel City Truckstop" with a new building! The food aint bad but always consider this is a new establishment! Great place to stop and fuel while traveling, secure area no thugs hanging out by the pumps begging for your money! Very clean inside and out, nice place for souvenirs!

We were staying at the nearby Comfort Inn immediately off I-90 for a less expensive Chicago experience (much cheaper hotel, no parking fee, free breakfast). I searched for local nearby dining opportunities and luckily landed on Byway Brewing Company only one interstate exit away. They had a nice array of beers and the usual options of samples, small and pint-sized pours, which were great, but where they really exceeded our expectations was on the food. Don't let them kid you that the portions are individually sized. Only if you're a construction worker who just came off a 12 hour shift! we saw a party of 3 splitting their noodle bowl along with several sides. My husband and I could have easily split either the delicious house burger with bacon-onion "jam" or his braised garlic short ribs with charred tomatoes and seared onions gyro on a pita. Wow! Definitely several notches above the usual pub grub. We split a cup of sweet potato soup embellished with sesame and paprika oils that began divine then turned truly heavenly when we hit the sour cream lurking in the bottom of the cup. My husband's "gyro" came with french fries with garlic, salt and pepper. I opted for their house chips, which were equally good. After sampling several of their beers both of us chose things we don't normally: I went for a Sunny Vale IPA that worked beautifully with the burger while hubby chose an unusual orange wheat beer. They also had a cherry wheat that was tasty, but a little too sweet for me. Reminded me a bit of the classic German beer cocktail "Berliner Weisse." All in all, an unexpectedly lovely evening. Our server Emily was attentive and as it got busier the staff seemed to look out for each other which I always apppreciate. The decor is typical brewing company industrial and the location, right off the freeway (but facing away from it) isn't redolent with ambiance unless you're into gasoline, but absolutely worth the very easy jog off the interstate to find. They have tables for bigger groups and outdoor seating also.
A long time favorite with locals. It is as old as old can be as everyone who knows Arman's remembers it as a child. The menu is sandwich fare with local flair. Working mans food with Polish sausage, Italian Beef, and burgers and more. It is tiny but clean. Parking is limited the smiles are not.

I felt very welcome in this place which focuses on healthy products. I had a cocoa inspired drink & my friend had a banana strawberry smoothie (I can't remember the names). There were many smoothie choices and she patiently & joyfully answered our questions. There are homemade items as well as supplements. Do stop in & support this business!

Small (perhaps 20 tables) downtown cafe with a large diverse menu. Our mid-morning Friday brunch were the excellent Denver Omelet and the Pecan Waffle; very quickly prepared and very good. The efficient staff were super attentive to our needs. We'll be back. They do serve mixed drinks. Note: Only open daily until 3:00 pm.

I stayed around the corner from this place for a few days. I desperately wanted them to have coffee at 8am, but to my dismay they don't open till 11... After returning from a long day at the beach, I tried again. It was a great family meal and our server was super nice (she is new, wish I could remember her name). I would totally visit again!

We eat here about once a month. The ribs are good and tender. The price is right. The servers are very friendly and polite. A good place to eat for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure with some friends to dine at this beautiful and quaint restaurant in the Miller area of Gary, IN. The ambience was nice, the menu has a lot to choose from, plate portions are great, and the prices were reasonable. I ordered the lake perch dinner which included sautéed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. I donât like Brussels spouts, but the way it was sautéed and blended with the rest of the vegetables was perfect. Our waiter was great and prompt. Kudos to the chef for the nice warm bread and hot served food. I will definitely dine at this restaurant again. Great restaurants do exist in Gary, Indiana.

Flamingos is a staple in Miller. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Pizza is good if you like thin crust pizza and bar has plenty of choices for drinks. My only complaint and reason for 3 star rating instead of 5 is the smell. Flamingos allows smoking inside and to get to the non-smoking section you have to walk through the smoking section. The sections are not separated by a wall or door so itâs really not smoke free. The ventilation on the night of our visit was not very good and it wasnât long before you could not tell the smoking from the non-smoking section.

I called at 9AM on a weekday for a 6PM reservation for the same day. General Manager was very polite, asked how I'd heard about the place, and said we'd be seated in the "Captain's" room to ensure we'd be seated together. When we arrived for the reservation, though we were seated in the same room, our family had to be split up into a party of 3 and another table for two, which was disappointing. At one point, I overheard one of the staff question if we'd have to be turned away. The place is quartered into an old, cottage-style house popular near the beaches of this area and I heard it was small, but still expected to be seated together as we were reassured during the reservation. Another shortcoming, though certainly not a dealbreaker, is that the menu purports that they have "beers and IPA's," though they only featured three beers this visit. All of the food we ordered was excellent; I had lobster pot pie and Chesapeake crab cakes (which I am an authority on). Other dishes we had included seafood crepe and a creative prime burger with oyster. The food was so good, I forgot until after we'd left, that our server never brought my lobster bisque that I'd ordered. The food is very good but some of the staff seem overwhelmed and I'll be apprehensive to come back with the entire family after this first seating debacle.
