While others wine and dine their business relationships on steak and sushi, I bring them to Rutt's Hut. I tell them where we are going and what to expect and most people are excited to go to a local legend. The best part is that when I see them again, Rutt's Hut is almost always brought up. A steakhouse or other fancy restaurant is commonplace in the business world. Nothing is common about Rutt's Hut; quite possibly the best hot dogs on the planet!
We went because we had a $10 voucher. We each had a burger- mine was fine, but certainly nothing spectacular. I guess the main selling point is that you know what you're going to get here

I took my aunts here for a delayed Mother's Day breakfast and the food was wonderful.I had a chicken fried steak with poached eggs and a side of potatoes that could have fed two people. Everything was delicious. The steak was extremely tender and full of flavor, the eggs were perfectly cooked and the potatoes were very crisp. Everything was seasoned correctly. The service was very attentive and could not have been more pleasant. Everyone at the restaurant was extremely nice.

This was the first diner that I couldn't find anything that I wanted to order on a Jersey Diner menu. I opted for a simple Bacon Cheeseburger that was cooked perfectly medium, but was so greasy that it soaked through the bun bottom and pooled in the plate. My spouse's Chicken sandwich came with lots of excess bun (I could have used it to soak up the hamburger grease on my plate). The cole slaw was nasty and the pickle slices were warm. Our server not too attentive and came too late to refill our drinks. We even skipped dessert just to get out of there. A one-timer.

Love this place. A hole in the wall type of establishment but the food is really good and inexpensive. You wouldn't expect the seafood here to be inline with high end restaurants but it is (and some dishes even exceed the high end places). The menu has remained unchanged for years which provides consistency and the prices have changed only slightly over the years. Definitely worth checking out.

I had really high hopes on taste from other reviews. I'm a carnivore and enjoy all types of meat-centric eateries and take them for what they are. Christians is a small hole in the wall with simple rules. No substitutions, extras cost extra, no waiter service and cash only. To me... I love that. It means to me that food is the core and I'm getting myself ready for something simple and great.Decor/ Ambiance: There isn't any. You order, wait for your food, pick it up, eat, pay and then leave. Nothing fancy and I'm totally OK with that. You will leave smelling like beef. Once the guys really start cooking on the grill, their overhead exhaust either wasn't turned on or wasn't working well as the dining area got a tad smoky.... don't wear anything super nice here.Service: Easy. No waiters and take care of yourself. Value: I'd say based on portions the value is on par. Not exceedingly cheap, but not expensive for what you get. Meat Quality: Based on minimal marbling, they are serving choice cuts. So nothing overly special that you can't buy at home, but the porterhouse was tender and with some chew on the strip side as to be expected. Cook time: I ordered my porterhouse medium rare... I got medium with a touch of pink closest to the bone.... so mine was a little over done. Not the end of the world and it wasn't dry so I ate it. BUT the way they grilled it wasn't ideal. In my opinion, you turn the beef once.. there is no need to constantly flip it. The grill cook flipped the beef a few times which can lead to over cooking. Sides: No substitutions. You get a side of mixed veg and a choice of mash, fries or rice/ beans and a piece of garlic break. I ordered the rice/ beans and they looked great and that's where it kinda stopped. Shockingly I found the beans to be bland. It was almost just room temperature and the rice was definitely not warm as there were random grains that were hard so I knew they were cold. Same goes for the veg. Nothing special you can't make at home and again... only kinda warm. Nothing to write home about the garlic bread.Overall: So for $26 + tax I had a 24oz porterhouse with sides. Not a bad price, but not shockingly amazing. So if you don't feel like cooking at home, come here for simple food and you'll leave full. But honestly, if you're a carnivore like me you can make it better at home.

I have been going to the Firehouse Restaurant for years, but we hadn't been there in a few years. It has gone through a few owners and a fire but it still survives. Last Friday we went for pizza for old time sake. What a nice surprise. The pizza was old school thin crust Jersey pizza with lots of cheese. The mussels were so good we ordered another portion. The wait staff are all locals and the whole place makes you feel like you are from the neighborhood. TV screens and fire house memorabilia fill the walls. The food is very good and the atmosphere is great. We will be back soon.

My husband wanted a steak dinner for our anniversary. He'd heard about Charlie Bloods-- it's been around a long time, but it's off the beaten path. We LIVED in Garfield, years ago, & never even heard about this place. It's a local bar with a restaurant in the back. Decor is like a theme restaurant (think TGI Fridays) only the REAL DEAL -- real saddles, cowboy boots, taxidermy done well (deer, goose, buffalo head, bear skin), pictures of John Wayne, classic 50's music, a wood-burning stove, dim lights (electric lanterns hanging off a wagon wheel)....eclectic. The food is Italian and American -- with specials in the $10 range. My husband had "The Duke" --a 24 oz ribeye. I had Eggplant Rollatine. My husband was happy, and I was so pleased with the Eggplant Rollatinen that it has become my new standard for all others to measure by -- crisply fried eggplant stuffed with plenty of ricotta, and a sweet, never acidic sauce (I've been back --it's always perfect!). The pizza served to another table looked great, and the calamari was good too. Try it and you'll want to come back, too. I can't wait to take my daughter, bring friends...we'll be back!

Just visited our new favorite burger place but didnât want to review it as itâs very small & didnât want it to be too crowded. Every review Iâve read about Steveâs is true. The burgers, hot dogs, fries, Steveâs own brand sodas are all excellent & very reasonably priced, much like a fast food place but only better quality food. 4 tables inside & 2 outside and very small parking lot.
