Went for lunch and had a delightful meal. BBQ was tasty and the portions were large. Wonderful view from every window in the dining room. They are undergoing some renovations right now but it didnât affect our dining experience.

During our 10 day genealogy trek across SE PA, DE, and WV, I have had two outstanding pastrami sandwiches. One was at the Farmer's Daughter in Capon Bridge, WV. It was delicious. My second one was here. It was equally as good. Who would have thought that two of the best pastrami sandwiches I have ever eaten would be in West Virginia. In NYC, I would not be surprised to have a great sandwich. But in West Virginia? Who knew. There is not much to this place. A small counter you order at. A cooler for drinks. A rack of chips. There is some seating out back, but we wanted to hit the road. So we ordered and took our lunch with us. The owner/chef slipped in a couple of dill pickle spears, which were as good as any I have had in NYC. Great sandwiches and a simple unapologetic place. Perfect small town deli.

We dined in the Hickory Dining room for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The breakfast buffet was the only choice. The buffet selections were numerous, eggs, meats, fruits, danishes, cereals, oatmeal, grits, juice, milk, etc. There was something for everyone. The food was delicious and fresh. The view from the dining room is grand. The outdoor pool and majestic mountains are pictured nicely. The dining room attendants were attentive and well kept. The room was clean and tidy. The music was at an acceptable level. The only thing that concerned us was that the buffet price was not published anywhere. We didn't feel right asking, so we guessed. Our guess was very close. The kids' buffet was at a reasonable price, $7 I believe. Adults were $12.

Breakfast Nook is located at entrance to Land of Canaan Resort. We know that Breakfast Nook is a very popular Breakfast diner for both Travelers and for Locals.Breakfast Nook is perhaps a two hundred-yard hike from our resort, and a 7:30 arrival finds few guests. All menu items are prepared from Scratch, and we like this.Service: ExcellentAmbience: Diner and a window tableDining: Today Blue Berry Pancakes with Bacon.

The Purple Fiddle is part bar, part restaurant, part live music venue. We stopped for an afternoon beer with some live music. Thereâs a cover charge some nights. They are also part of the Mountain Music movement, if youâre interested in that. The Purple Fiddle is kind of a must stop when in the Thomas-Davis area, which youâll probably be visiting because of its natural scenery.

We ate two meals there. One was a dinner and one was a breakfast buffet. Both were a little pricey but decent. The dinners were served in a reasonable amount of time. The personnel seemed eager to please. It is a nice clean restaurant. The breakfast buffet was pretty good but it did not have a huge variety but it was enough. I enjoyed dining there more than I did a t Canaan Valley lodge.

The "Sawmill" ... Well known for home style country meals. Generous portions and reasonable pricing. ** Daily Dinner Specials ** Salad Bar ** Open 6am to 8pm all days, with extended seasonal hours. Located within the Alpine Lodge in Historic Davis.
Food was not homemade, lots of canned stuff. Salad bar was not good at all. Lettuce was browning, very few choices, and many things didn't even have serving utensils in them. Hubby said his dinner was decent but the gravy and mushrooms were definitely canned. I got broiled trout and salad bar, they didn't even put a lemon slice on the plate.

Cooked-from-scratch country breakfast with healthy options and weekend seasonal specials. Well known for a variety of creative pancakes and egg dishes and hearty standards such as biscuit and sausage gravy. Also serving numerous vegetarian options includi
This place has great good food, great vibes, and very unique ambiance that well captures Davis. Just would caution you not to confuse it with an in and out breakfast spot before hitting the mountain on a busy winter weekend. It is a small kitchen like most in Davis- and a 15 minute wait for a table translated to about triple that for your food to hit the table after its been ordered. I'd go again but with the mindset to enjoy coffee and conversation while the food was being prepared.
