We were blown away with the humongous delicious portions, extensive menu and great service. We did not expect this in such a small town and were totally surprised. Lounge area is very large, complete with pool table. This was a great all purpose American food restaurant...not fancy, just good home cooking.
Although they are only open for lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays, Th Kitchen on Lafayette is the place to go for delicious food. You can either dine in or carry out. It is high quality food at a reasonable price. There is a new theme each week, but whatever it is, you can count on it being great! The drink selection is limited to sweet tea, unsweetened tea, lemonade, coffee or water.
Hands down, best doughnuts Iâve ever eaten (and Iâve eaten a lot!). Home of the famous pink cookie, which is also pretty good. If I remember right, this little bakery was one of the top 50 places to eat in the whole state of Illinois!

Grew up eating this delicious BBQ. The recipes taste a bit different than I remember, but I still dream about the slaw BBQ sandwich and onion rings. Took 5 of my friends on a drive from Breese just for a BBQ. All left saying they had never experienced the shaved meat nor the addition of the slaw to the sandwich. I ordered an XL slaw just for myself. (I believe the waitress thought I was joking.) If the Dixie would only offer Ski soda, it would be a gourmet restaurant!

We stopped to eat lunch here (per Trip Advisor) on our way to ride bikes and were delighted with this place. I had a great Rueben and onion rings and my husband had chicken fried chicken steak with 3 sides-all under $20. Service was super. We enjoyed reading and looking at all the âstuffâ hanging on the walls and from the ceiling.

We had dinner our last night in the area and what a treat! The service was friendly and personable and made us feel at home. The food was amazing and they have a good wine list. We had the ribeye special - done perfectly with just the right amount of sides. I also had the crab artichoke soup which was excellent! We finished off with their famous bread pudding and buttermilk pie. They were also excellent - you must try the buttermilk pie - I'm still dreaming about it!

The use of stones or rocks for cooking is not altogether new...It goes back to 18,000 B.C. The natural ability of stones to retain and radiate heat has made it the ideal cooking source through a diverse range of cultures. Lava rocks are pieces of crushed
My sister and I had dinner at this restaurant last weekend. She ordered a grilled chicken salad and I had the chicken Caesar salad. When the salads arrived they were exactly the same except for the dressing! A Caesar does not had red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and mixed greens! I was very disappointed, we also had a problem with the service, one person took our order another person took our drink order and yet another person brought out the drinks. When the salads finally arrived they were brought by yet another server. Had to ask for silver, All in all not a good experience.

We tried the wine tasting at this winery and liked the lot of them. Our server was very informative of all the wines and so this was very helpful. I would recommend a trip here to taste the wines if you have not done so before.

After hearing many good things about the Iron Whisk on Southern Illinois eats and here on Tripadvisor, we decided to try it out on a thursday morning. My wife had the lemon blueberry dutch baby and I had the biscuits and gravy. Both were very good and the service was great. The former oil change/garage building was transformed into a clean, well put together eatery. We look forward to going back!
