Find out what American restaurants to try in Brooklyn. It seems like most folks have a grandmother, great-uncle or some other distant relative that used to live in Brooklyn, or perhaps a friend that lives there now. In the early 1900s, it was a mecca for immigrants arriving via Ellis Island. A hundred years later, young professionals and artists left pricey Manhattan digs for Brooklyn's cheaper and more expansive space. Neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope, which had fallen into disrepair over the years, were restored and reborn as funky enclaves. Walk or bike over the historic Brooklyn Bridge (or ride the subway) to Brooklyn Heights for a stroll along the Promenade and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Meander through Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for a taste of nature in the urban wilds. Catch a performance at the world-famous Brooklyn Academy of Music. From the delicious Italian restaurants of Bensonhurst to the Irish bars that line the avenues of Bay Ridge, from the hotdogs and rollercoasters of Coney Island to the bagels and handball courts of Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a state of mind as well as a dynamic community. Discover why, no matter where people move on to, they remain Brooklynites at heart.

Their famous bagel is very expensive, but the salmon is quality and fresh. Not only does the place serve bagels, it's also delicacies and you can buy groceries and home food (expensive). No seating area! Just a bench outside the store

Stopped in here recently on a trip to Brooklyn and was not disappointed. I got the reuben and a chocolate shake. The sandwich was delicious and came with an equally good salad (could have swapped for fries but I'm at a vegan diner, should get something that's, you know, good for me). The shake was very good but not as good as some vegan chocolate shakes I've had in Philly. I believe the description said it was made with chocolate (vegan) ice cream. If so, that would explain it - the best chocolate shakes are made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. I also found the price point to be a little high but I realized I often have that reaction when I do anything involving money in NYC. It's a good spot to know about and when I was there it truly hit the spot!

We arrived before they opened and there was a line. We ordered a smoked salmon platter and and some latkes. The latkes were thick and delicious. I make latkes but theyâre never that thick! The smoked salmon platter...heaven. We ordered the Ida. Yes itâs $85 but split amongst 4 people with unlimited bagels, it was a mighty good meal for the price. The Scottish salmon and the Pastrami cured salmon were my favorite but all 4 salmons were delicious. The pickled tomatoes and carrots were really tasty as well. Yes, get here early or expect to wait because the food is just that good.

As with any restaurant who has amazing views where food plays second fiddle, Manhatta is no different. The views were amazing, but the food was average. I had a delicious salad followed by an awful mushroom risotto. My friend's fish was good but not great. Service was friendly and good. I'm not sure what to say, if this restaurant did not have any views, I would never go back, however if I have out of town guests who are not foodies, I will take them just so they can enjoy the view.

Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake
I love cheesecake and this place was recommended. I ventured down and I was not disappointed. The cake is delicious and light. Just perfect. The cannoli are also good. I'd highly recommend going here if you want to try some proper New York cheesecake.

I picked up my son at the airport from out of town and headed here for a weekday brunch. The quaint old fashioned setting with an outdoor garden patio is the perfect spot for catching up! I had the lavender latte with my Eggs Florentine. My poached eggs were good but over cooked and not runny. The scones and pound cake were sweet and delicious.

As residents of The Roxy hotel we ate both dinner & breakfast at the Roxy Lounge. Dinner was lovely - i ate hummus & vegetable crudités & had several of the Roxy cocktail. Breakfast - bagels & cream cheese were divine!! The atmosphere in the Lounge is wonderful - there is always music - either live pianist, jazz group or a singer.Such a great place. Highly recommended.
