Find out what American restaurants to try in Ambergris Caye. Ambergris Caye hovers in a vacation sweet spot: just enough amenities to make it exciting, but not so overdeveloped that you’re tripping over flip-flopped tourists. A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads. Reef divers drool over the Belize Barrier Reef and the Blue Hole, a 400-feet deep circle of limestone that teems with angelfish, elkhorn coral, cleaner shrimp and stalactites.

Went here for lunch, lounging and liquor. Nice spot on a pier, canât go wrong there. Service was solid, prices fair and decor was sporty but not over the top. Food was ok overall for bar food/lunch expectations but inconsistent. Vegetarian options plentiful. Nachos were the highlight and I do recommend. This definitely fits in with the draw to this spot and if thatâs what youâre after then this is a place to go. That said the burrito was oddly different and not in a regionally expected way. The pickled bell peppers dominated and were off putting. Iâm well versed in worldly burrito action and take it mildly serious. My GF had a sandwich that was 3/4 mediocre bread. Others in the group found the mains to be average at best. So if drinking and snacking in a great spot and comfy setting is what you seek then 5 stars! If you are looking for more then probably look elsewhere.

The Palapa bar & grill was located close to our Airbnb so we stopped by a few times during our time in San Pedro. Itâs in a beautiful large palapa out on the end of a peer sitting above the water providing a great setting. The bar staff was friendly & entertaining. Along with the regional beer we tried various local mixed drink concoctions which were all good. Additionally we ate dinner here a few different nights and while the food wasnât anything to brag about it was ok. We attempted to order desert (key lime pie) one evening but they were out. Overall I would recommend stopping by for a drink and the view while in the area.

There are so many great restaurant on Ambergris Caye, often itâs hard to choose. But almost everyone who visits San Pedro wants to eat at least one meal beachfront and that is where Blue Water Grill comes handy. Open-air restaurant right on the beach in a quieter end of San Pedro. Simple and rustic in its decor, with wood walls and colorful paintings it has an extensive menu, which is a nice treat compared to the other restaurants on the island. In addition to good food, the staff was extremely friendly and they have live music!! I highly recommend going for dinner and look forward to going again when Iâm back on the island. I love the island ambiance, open air, right on the beach looking out at the blue Caribbean. The food is great, with well-prepared island favorites, wines, beer, and tropical drinks, of course. We tried different menu items (I got the snapper it was very delicious), everything was consistently wonderful. My San Pedroâs favorites are Blue Water Grill, Red Ginger at the Phoenix, Elvis and Wild Mango. You canât go wrong

Been going here for over 20 years and still as good as first time there. A real family run establishment today has some of the most kick ass fry jacks that have ever touched my tongue. Had a blackboard menu for the whole time I've been going. Almost feinted when they handed me a menu this month. A must try restaurant if there's ever been one. Classic beach bar|restaurant

Iguana Juan's features thoughtful burgers and killer vegetarian, along with a fusion of American and Central American flavors, awesome drinks (Bar in a Jar, anyone?) and live entertainment. Laugh it up at a stand up comedy show, or find your groove at our
Perfect combination of friendly local feel and well-run American restaurant.... The drinks are fantastic (Frozen Coconut Mojito), the food is solid (you get the sense they're spending extra on ingredients, no corners cut), and there are a couple nights a week with live entertainment. It's also a refreshing spot if you're tired of the extremely touristy beach bars. Highly recommend, we went three times in four days.

A modern take on Breakfast and Lunch, with vegetarian choices plus awesome hand made espresso coffee, chilled coffee blends and a big tea selection. Air conditioned and open 8am to 2pm Monday to Friday.Located in the purple colored Vilma Linda Plaza buildi
Not only the best tasting breakfast but also the best service from the nicest couple. Highly recommend the chocolate banana pancakes and the light, pull apart French toast covered in a homemade coconut cream sauce and crispy coconut flakes. The owners were friendly and very attentive and continually made sure our coffee was refilled and that we were happy with everything. I stayed in San Pedro for three weeks and ate at plenty of highly rated breakfast places but, with out a doubt, Mesa is the best place to eat at on the island. Do yourself a favor and check this place out early on in your trip because you will be back. Enjoy!
