My daughters and I enjoyed a "girls' getaway" at The Salamander resort, complete with a spa day and lunch at the Gold Cup Wine Bar. The wine list was impressive and extensive, with some interesting flights to try. We tried a variety of appetizers and luncheon offerings, all of which were fantastic. The Gold Cup is casual and friendly, although in a lovely setting off the lobby, and a great place to people watch. The servers and bartender were simply delightful and made us feel like friends - can't ask for anything more!

Our favorite âgo toâ place in Middleburg with a great outdoor patio, incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, and great food! Red Horse is a great local place where the staff know your name. A wonderful place to have a drink or a yummy casual lunch or dinner. Manager Sam greets you by name and even has your favorite drink waiting by the time you hit the table. No place is more welcoming with great service and great food.

Finally got to Ford's Fish Shack which I have been wanting to do for some time. The staff was pleasant and the atmosphere was nice. The scallop popcorn appetizer could have come from a frozen bag, but wasn't bad, just not great either. The entrees or fried shrimp and the fish and chips were fine. The coating on the cod seemed like it got steamed at some point as it was wet and a bit soggy. Overall it was a fine meal, will try another location to see how it is on a second visit.

We were guests at the Salamander and had dinner at Harrimans during our stay. The service was exceptional but the food was "ok". Given the cost of the resort, the pricing was very reasonable and it was a convenient option for not having to leave the resort. There are some dishes that outshine others so definitely give it a shot if you're able to make a reservation.

Visiting local vineyard and found this little restaurant for lunch. We arrived just before noon. There was a short line to order. It is a charmingly restored building with tin ceiling and lots of dark oak paneling. There are large widows, allowing light.I ordered a turkey with bacon. Excellent. My friend ordered a sandwich (canât remember her choice). We both enjoyed the location, the food and the staff.

Last weekend there were a dozen oysters to choose from, half from west coast and half from east coast ($3 apiece and $2 apiece respectively). Then we got fried oyster po boy sandwiches with cole slaw that had just the right amount of vinegar and mayo (nice and light). Very crowded. Upstairs is less noisy. Will definitely go back!

Blue Ridge grill with outside seating, located next to the movie theater, looks alluring on summer nights with the overall ambience emanating from the theater. Plus I like grilled food, specially fish, which led me to go visit on my birthday. However, having lunch on a cold day indoors was a very different story. The decor is very basic, with a strange toothpasty shade of green. You'll need to walk few minutes from the garage to the place. Place was cold and not very many patrons for lunch I could see. Menu is limited and food was nothing to write home about. Another thing I noted that the staff do not smile or get enthusiastic about anything during conversation. I guess I have to redo my celebration with the family some other time. Places with the certificate of excellence are always good, this was an exception.

Excellent service. Fixed price menu in formal dining room. Vegetarian and chef's tasting menu also available. Different a la carte menu in bistro. Extensive wine list. Though a limited menu, it was very creative and tasty. Definitely a high end dining experience. Do not wear tshirts shorts and flip flops, not appropriate.

We came for brunch. After complimentary and delicious pastries, I order steak and eggs and my wife ordered an omelette. Both were fabulous. Tasty, nicely portioned. The service was friendly. One disappointment. It was not possible to order any espressos et because the espresso machine was broken since âtwo weeksâ! Really. Fix it!Dear UE_DC64,We are so happy that you enjoyed brunch at our tavern! We also apologize about our espresso being unavailable when you joined us; this is something that has since been corrected. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. There is an underground parking lot down the block and across the way and a surface lot on-site with plenty of parking. We were seated promptly in a nice small dining alcove along the windows overlooking the courtyard lattice work. The menu had great options for appetizers, salads and soups and entrees and there were also daily specials. The seafood salad with ahi tuna and shrimp was nicely dressed with a light vinagrette and very good. The meals were accompanied with fresh bread and butter. Perfect light meal.
