Nestled in the tiny and tranquil town of Tooleybuc, Tooleybuc Motel is set just off the historic Tooleybuc Bridge, right on the state border by the banks of the Murray River. We offer travelers affordable lodging within a village atmosphere.
Arrived later in the evening. Greeted by a trainee receptionist who was very friendly and tried to be helpful, but clearly still learning the ropes and requiring assistance from the ‘managers’ who were watching TV in the back room - and whom where not particularly supportive of her efforts. In fact, they were / looked a little scary IMO, verging on unfriendly as Chriswee mentions in his comments. Room was OK, clean enough. Bathroom, Room, bedding, kitchen appeared clean but needs motel a big update - I doubt there is anything much better around so this was it! The fly screens filthy and screen onto balcony not lockable. Lots of random messages about cleaning the kitchen before departing and leaving it as we found it. Given we have paid for the ‘privlage’ I think it’s a bit rich of management. Given Covid it would be in the managements to professionally clean all kitchen items after guest departure- there maybe some liability issues on their part and I’m sure the hotel association has regulatory pandemic guidelines in place. There are definitely issues at this motel, and while the trainee was good, I felt extremely uncomfortable about the permanent managers. My instincts tell me something is not right here.

Fully self-contained units able to sleep six people. Tooleybuc Sporting Club a 250 meter river walk away. Enjoy Fishing, Golf, Tennis, Bowls and just Relax.
The villa is nice and spacious but is let down by the maintenance, and the vigilance of the cleaner. Upon arrival and getting unpacked and putting things away we found we only had one cereal bowl, no reading lamps in the main bedroom, the aircon flap was kept up,to allow air to come out, with a bottle top. The fridge didn’t have any rails in it, so we couldn’t stand cartons of milk up, the broken bits were up on a shelf. One of the staff replaced the bowls and brought us two new lamps. A filthy disgusting to touch hairdryer was in the bathroom drawer and when I took it to reception was told it wasn’t theirs , being left by previous occupants, as they don’t provide a hairdryer. I must say the beds were clean and comfortable..

We have been here twice now whilst we are on holidays up this way and will return before we go home. Each time we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely hello and smiley faces. The hotel has just been done up and is lovely. The atmosphere, the service and the food all too class. Put it on your bucket list.

from first appearances this motel didn’t look that great but on checking in, the room was spacious, good amenities and very clean. Priced at just under $100 definitely good value for money. Close to hotel dining and takeaway.
