Mystic Sands is great for couples, families, business or independent travelers and is located right on the beach about 10 minutes from Neiafu center. The units have private kitchens so you can prepare your own meals if you like. If not we are happy to make breakfast or any meal for you. We also provide free kayaks and wifi is available free of charge in all rooms.
My experience at Mystic sands went FAR above and beyond what I was expecting. I was expecting a regular hotel experience, but it turned out to be far more. Mossy and her husband Maka are the caretakers for the hotel and they took care of us like family from the start. Maka is the driver for guests (including airport pickup/dropoff) and Mossy takes care of breakfast, activity/excursion bookings and pretty much everything else. The hotel has (I think) 5 regular rooms, plus a standalone large house with two king bedrooms. We booked a regular room but Mossy moved us into the standalone house since we were the only guests there. Throughout our stay, my friend and I interacted with Mossy/Maka many times. Mossy is like a mother and has an outpouring of love and kindness. TIP - If you are there on a Sunday - go to church with Mossy and Maka. The language is Tongan but the experience was spiritual and heartfelt... and the singing is fantastic. TIP - Remember Tonga is more about cultural experiences... There are not a lot of restaurants/bars/etc., so grab your own food at the market/store. Definitely make sure to have food/drinks purchased before Sunday, as stores are closed all day Sundays.

Stayed in Waterfront lodge for about a month during my deployment in Tonga after the vulcano eruption and tsunami and it turned out to be my home away from home. There is a few beautiful decorated rooms ,some with seaview, and we were living as a little family with Liz and her staf taking extremely good care of us. During and after lockdown we enjoyed the best hospitality, very clean rooms, laundry service, a hearty breakfast, and eating the best food in Tonga for dinner on the veranda. Liz always going the extra mile , making sure there was something organised for us to enjoy the beauty of Tonga next to work . Totally recommended !

Located on a deserted Island in the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga, this resort is totally surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and many exquisite coral reefs. Rooms are all beachfront and far from each other so they offer ultimate privacy. Use of kayaks and snorkel equipment is FREE. Meals are made from fresh local ingredients, and accommodation is made for special needs.
This resort is amazing!! A short boat trip from haapai to an island away from cars shops and people. We were welcomed ashore by Patti, Sammie and staff as the boat anchored for us to start our 6 days of bliss. The canopy trees provide shade and a cool breeze kisses our skin. Our accommodation was superb with everything we needed, out door bathroom open to the stars, mosquito net was tucked in each evening, fresh filtered rain water plentiful, a step to the ocean, a delightful hammock to sway in and sleep, read or just be mindful. Fabulous library of interesting books in the dining room. Breakfast lunch and dinner were exceptional, healthy and delicious made with love by Sammie. Our plates were piled high and seconds available. There is SUP, kayaks, snorkeling or for the brave, swimming with whales. Patti is a massage therapist and does an excellent job of relaxing the muscles in her special fale close to the sea. Yoga is available again Patti is the teacher. Many years of Patti’s extraordinary journey to this remote island in heaven have been given to guests to enjoy her skills and life’s lessons. Thank you for every minute of our time in your care.

Located on the west coast of Tongatapu, Liku'alofa Beach Resort lines the beach front with 11 fales (bungalows) five single and five duplex fales (15 rooms), a tree top bar & restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week which is overlooking the ocean, very convenient for whale-watching or simply gazing at the sunset with your favorite cocktail. We also have a tidal swimming pool, camping grounds, a business center, free wifi. We can host private functions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and many more. From the minute we pick you up from the airport to the time we bid you farewell, your stay will be enriched with unique Tongan experience of its history, culture, tradition, and why we're called "the friendly islands."
If you have images of a lovely sandy beach outside your bungalow then you will be in for a surprise.....there isn’t one. In fact you can’t even access the water due to a jagged coral wall, not that you’d want to. The sea swimming pool is very uninviting and it looked to be closed. But the bungalow we stayed in was comfortable though in a poor state of repair. The saving grace was that the staff were wonderful, friendly and very obliging....eager to please. The restaurant and bar provided good views. The menu was fine and the food acceptable

We are a small, locally owned and family operated resort offering limited occupancy and catering for our resort guests exclusively. This ensures our guests enjoy a quiet, peaceful and relaxed atmosphere around the resort. Established in 1979 and located on the beachfront at Ha'atafu Beach .... Tongatapu's premier swimming, snorkelling and recreational beach. We welcome families with children.
I’ve just spent a week at Ha’atafu Beach Resort. It’s a beautiful, quiet place on a lovely lagoon with great surfing out past the reef if you want. Moana and Hola are genial, big hearted, warm and friendly hosts with big laughs. They’ll tell you all you want to know about Tongan life and culture. Everyone sits round eating together and the food is delicious. Every evening a huge banquet of fresh, home-cooked food appears, usually including fish caught by the staff that morning. The cabins are comfy - not luxurious but they have everything you need. As a solo traveller it was an easy place to hang out. I loved my week there and could easily have stayed much longer. Absolute beach front nestled in a tropical plantation on the Royal Estate of Kanokupolu, right in the middle of the most beautiful sandy beach. We are directly on a marine reserve. Our Beach Houses have prime beachfront positions right above the waters edge making them the closest accommodation to the water in Tonga. Whales swim past your door. Fully self-contained, hot water, TV, private and clean. Enjoy burning sunsets and whales over our lagoon. Our gardens ever change. All native trees and our coconut plantation provides our guests with fresh nuts at anytime. Boasting a marine reserve, the tropical fish varieties are many inside our lagoon. In the right conditions, snorkeling beyond the reef is spectacular. Kayaks and stand up paddle boards available. Fresh raw fish and tropical salad is a specialty of Blue Banana. We welcome you. Kitchens have everything you need. Refrigerator, stove, oven, all appliances and kitchenware. Bathrooms have hot water. Linen provided and we offer a laundry service.
Wasn’t sure what to expect and boy have we been blown out of the water. Blue Banana’s Maui Fale to which Chris and Shane kindly upgraded us, is magical. We loved it so much we cancelled travelling to another island and stayed an extra week being a total of two weeks. The views are just stunning and waking up to the sound of waves every morning crashing off the reef is just hypnotic. The accommodation, although traditional has everything you need, including en-suite, fridge, microwave, hot plate, communal barbecue, fan, THE most gorgeous “lookout” being the best balcony we have ever come across, wonderful hosts and the one and only Rod who looked after us so well. The beauty of our accommodation made us catch our breath when we first arrived and it did not wear off. The beach is deserted most of the time and the reef hosts a myriad of colourful fish and provides hours of great snorkelling and swimming. We recommend hiring a car as soon as possible, very reasonable and pretty essential. Blue Banana have some good referrals. A tour of the island with Tui is worthwhile and can be done in a day. Arrange to buy some food on your way from the airport to last you a day Until you get yourself organised. There is a local shop at end of road which has basics but if you arrive on a Sunday, everything is closed so best to organise in advance. You will not regret staying in Blue Banana

Warning! Do not stay here! You will fall in love with Saia and his wife Mary, and your heart will break into pieces when you need to leave. Saia and Mary are very generous and hospitable hosts who go above and beyond to make sure you have a lovely stay. Saia took us on a tour of the island, assisted us with many arrangements, and spent many hours chatting away with us. He became a very close friend. Be warned, he will try to tell you he is not related to Morgan Freeman. If you look at the resemblance they really must be twin brothers (though Saia is the handsome one). The lodge itself is very comfortable. Saia and Mary are very sensitive and adaptive to your needs (if you're social- great. If you need you're own space- great). You will find the bill at the end of your stay is very reasonable. From The Maori Princess

After our first two hotels this place was a godsend....so much so we stayed an extra night. Located on a beautiful sandy beach which offered a terrific beach swimming especially at high tide. Our room was large, clean and well ventilated. The restaurant offered a limited but adequate menu and the bar well stocked with a selection of beer and wine. The staff were absolutely wonderful and eager to please. The Wednesday night cultural show and buffet were good value with the vast majority of the audience local Tongans

It was my first time in Tonga and the stay was beautiful, beachside location, watching whales all the time from the terrace and the best sunsets ever. The staff is very friendly and they are very willing to help with whatever you need all the time. The food is delicius and you also can ask for a vegetarian or vegan option (They offer a lot of vegetales in a place where its really difficult to find them) There is a table with Water to drink (you can refill your bottle everytime) hot Water and herbs for free all day. The rooms are spacious, with private bathroom and all very clean and comfortable If you come to EUA Hideaway is the place! Thank you very much Marta and all of your staff for everything?? Maló lahi!!!
