In Shinjuku for 5 days, we had breakfast and lunch here twice. It’s at the new south exit from the station which is quite a foodie paradise.Breakfast of French toast, poached eggs and similar were of a high standard. There is a queue sometimes but it moves quickly. On our lunch visit we had whitebait pizza with Yebisu beer....sounds strange but was great.Highly recommended.

Benoit Tokyo

Bistro concept but chic. Large dining room and a side parlour. Distance between tables acceptable but parlour area looks more private. On the 10th floor of the building with unobstructed views so may want to ask for a window seat.Lunch is affordable, about 3800 yet for a 3 course lunch with coffee. I had the ratatouille followed by the fish and the Mille-Feuille. My wife had the soup/scallop and chocolate dessert. If we hadn't taken a quick sushi bite at Umegaoka an hour earlier, would certainly have gone for the 5 course for 6400 yen.Saying that, La Cime in Osaka is more innovative and experimental. Benoit is more standard French fare. Really like the ambience

We dined here once to celebrate my husband's birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. Service was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by our first names downstairs and led upstairs to the restaurant. We waited at the bar for a few minutes with a friendly bartender, then we were shown to our table. Food was great. The pumpkin gnocchi was our favorite. We had the caprese salad, the sea-bass and the cotoletta, all very good. When we were ready for dessert they escorted us to the outdoor terrace where they had a table ready for us. They brought us the dessert we selected with birthday candles, took photos and gave us a very thoughtful, personalized gift at the end. The outdoor terrace was beautiful with great weather and an enjoyable breeze. The service provided by the whole staff and the personalized gift were details that made for an unforgettable dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant.

I'm not going to be as harsh as the previous reviews, but this fine dining is for the fine dining crowd who don't mind taking hours to enjoy delicious food in such a formal, uptight place. As for me, i'm not a high-society person, so i guess i shouldn't have even tried. i only went here because of location for a business dinner. The food itself is first class but my unrefined tastes can't tell the difference between La Table and something like Lawry's. The service is very friendly and attentive, but again, like you're at a country club - so every formal, and explanations of every single detail of every single serving. I absolutely cannot see any M stars in the food - it's great, but that great? OK, there you go - country boy goes to the big city and can't tell the difference. If you can, enjoy!
