We are loccated in the heart of Nikko. 5 minutes from Nikko station by bus or taxi, 10 minutes walk to the world heritage site "The Shrines and temples of Nikko". You will be pleased by Local specialty dinner and garden view Onsen(hot spa). We welcome you with hospitality.
After 7 years in Japan, I belatedly got around to visiting Nikko, a delightful experience. This hotel is ideally situated for an overnight or multi-night stay connected with the World Heritage Site shrines and also attractions in the surrounding mountains, notably Chuzenji lake and its impressive Kegon Falls. While the structure is modern and rather nondescript at first site, it features a truly beautiful Japanese-style garden, lovingly tended, in which I spent much pleasant time reading, and operates as a ryokan, with shared onsen baths cleverly and attractively designed to open out straight onto verdant nature. The rooms are comfortable, featuring two western-style armchairs and a matching table, as well as more traditional items. The view from my large window of the mountains, against which Nikko backs, was magnificent. Excellent breakfast and dinner daily, mostly Japanese, but Western one morning, endlessly helpful staff speaking excellent English, a very attentive and knowledgeable proprietress all round out one of the most memorable hotel stays I have had to date in the country. Bravo! And warm thanks to the hotel team.

Very far from Kinugawa hot spring station, 1.5 hours local bus and 30min shuttle bus by this ryokan. We went to this place for 2-days family reunion at early April. We enjoyed absolutely fantastic Japanese dish at every evening and morning. I cannot admire enough these delicious foods which are not soy-sauce-full, Kanto-like taste. On the second day, menus differed from the first day (dinners and breakfast). Rooms and the lounge are also comfy. We spent plenty of time In the lounge, enjoyed reading (as we planned), "gomokunarabe", and free massage chair. There was also a "Shogi-ban". Even though the snow was piling up outside, the wood stove warmed the lounge enough. The hotel stuff (most of them are from other Asian countries) work enthusiastically. We shall return!

Rather old but quite big hotel with nice and various food buffet style breakfast and dinner. Quite convenient location. Dial bus going to the station and local theme parks is available. Friendly and helpful staff. Room interior and its facilities are quite old styled, especially safe and fridge. Old tobacco smell inside the room is irritating. Indoor and outdoor spa are disappointing, very small and not really worth attending.

I stayed at this inn with my friend in Nov 2019. As soon as you step in the inn, the nice smell of incense welcomes you. In the lounge, you first have some tea and sweets. The entire building is not very large, but all rooms face the river and the creek through large picture windows. The staff was all very nice, polite, kind, friendly, and helpful. Traditional Japanese meals were just fantastic both dinner and breakfast, which you eat at the privately sectioned eating areas on the ground level. Hot spring bath was cozy but clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed this inn. The only thing I want to warn is that this inn is not located in the center of the hot spring village, and you need to get on the bus for a few stops unless you have your own car.

Hotel Hanaan was a great location to stay to visit nearby Nikko and as a car enthusiast it was a welcome location to be right at the top of Irohazaka. We had a room with a private onsen and the room was always well kept and had ample space. The views were spectacular of Lake Chuzenji and the Torii gate over the village. Honestly I was hopeful for the nearby restaurants but most of the ones within walking distance were a bit subpar and we had better luck at the bottom of the mountain. The food served in the ryokan was as expected and as someone who doesn't eat a lot of sea food, they did go above and beyond to make sure I still had something for me to eat while my wife ate and enjoyed the standard menu. The staff was friendly and we were able to get by on English. Overall it was a very memorable experience and probably one of the nicer rooms we've stayed in during our trips to Japan. This review is a bit late and we were really there in November 2019 - keep in mind that it does get colder and the foliage falls a lot sooner at that top than down below. So while Nikko was gorgeous, up at the lake it was definitely past it's peak and I wish we had gone a couple weeks earlier.

We chose to stay in Nasu Onsen 那須温泉, a spread out hotspring on the slope of Mt. Nasu. Yumoto 湯本 is the centre of the area, with many ryokans located, including the one we booked for the evening: Sanraku 那須温泉 山楽. This ryokan was started in 1923, visited by Emperor Showa 天皇昭和 before he decided to build his own imperial villa in Nasu, so there is a saying that his villa was inspired by the ryokan. It has a really beautiful backdrop of Nasu’s main peak: Chausudake 茶臼岳. The ryokan has prided itself with its hotspring, directly fed from the source 5.4 km away, with an abundance flow of 800 litres per minute. The ryokan made use of the gradual drop of temperature over distance to cool down the water and this hotspring is the same feeding the royal villa. We have booked the Modern Japanese Room with Garden Open-Air Bath. The bedroom is spacious (10 mats), with the veranda looking out at the garden, where there is a footbath along with the nice open-air bath with flowing hotspring, direct from source without heating or filtration. There are also two open and two indoor public baths, separately for male and female guests. The ryokan was not busy and so I had the whole bath for myself. I am particularly impressed by the open bath, created as a pool surrounded by the forest offering calm and tranquility. The other great feature was certainly the quality of the hotspring. Simple Onsen 単純温泉 in style, the semi-clear water has no smell, slightly alkaline and giving a nice smoothing experience. I felt all my neck pain gone after the soak and no wonder it was famous for healing properties. The ryokan also had a nice lobby with plenty of comfortable sofas looking at the window to the beautifully trimmed garden. Offering tea, coffee as well as wine and sake free for guests, we had a relaxing moment before returning to the room and got ready for dinner. Dinner is served at the private dining room Yumatsuki. We chose not to dine in room to avoid the smell of the food. All the dishes were fantastic in taste and plating, a true feast of flavors, texture and enjoyment. I also had the local sake Tentaka 天鷹, one of the most popular in Tochigi.

We stayed here with our three young children, ages 5, 8 and 10. All five of us thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was quite comfortable in the family room with plenty of space for all of our futons. We enjoyed the Onsen so much! We were there for our first time so we just watched what others did. The staff there were remarkable! They helped to make our stay lovely, conversed with our kids and gave them presents. We loved being able to pick out our yukatas--we are big fans! The entire hotel was spotless. Highly recommend!!! It's a gorgeous setting in the mountains. There is also a good restaurant a short walk away.

At the very end of the mountain side. It is very private and exclusive. They have male only, female only and mixed bath. The baths in open areas are blended Into the nature. As it is in the highland, the temperature is about 5 degrees lower which is nice for onsen. The traditional Onsen dinner is very nice and worth the value.
