Always great fish and chips to eat on the pier (or in the car if it's raining!). My mouth is watering just thinking about it as I write this!

A great experience at this very friendly traditional restaurant. We enjoyed our drinks and canapés in the lounge area while choosing from the set menu and were spoilt for choice as it all sounded so good. We were not disappointed, all the food was delicious and well presented. The steaks and lamb being exceptional quality!

This small inauspicious fish restaurant is fast gaining nationwide recognition as one of the best and most exciting places to eat in Scotland. With a superb location & stunning sea views on the upper floor of the Calmac building on Tobermory pier, and their own fishing boat landing fresh local shellfish - its an experience not to be missed. Just turn up unannounced for lunch, but book in advance for dinner. Lots on offer for non fish eaters too.
We had an early evening meal in Café Fish. Loved the setting (we were lucky with the sunset over the harbour), the atmosphere and the food, and the prices were reasonable. The staff were pleasant and very efficient, and that's where the problem was for us! We were served and ate this lovely meal in double quick time, an experience that others have similarly commented on. Back at our hotel (rather more quickly than we anticipated!) we mentioned this, and were told that Café Fish do aim to fit in 3 evening sittings (apologies if this is not true) and so things can feel rushed even in October. A shame really, given the food and the setting, we would have loved to have had the meal at a bit slower pace.

Lovely dinner for 2 after a day of island exploration. Slow cooked beef and scampi for us was great. Brilliant service and warm welcome. Good value for money and a nice atmosphere

Visited tonight as was recommended by a local. Walked in and enquired about food to be told the menus will be out soon. Sat with a drink for 10 mins only to notice the 2 very small menus had been positioned at the end of the bar within these 10 mins.
Had to go retrieve a menu myself as the 2 young girls behind the bar were to busy in awe of a local sat at the bar tell stories of a man who pees the bed!! Also was very disgusted at one of the barmaids swigging water straight from a large plastic volvic bottle every 30 seconds utterly disgraceful. Needless to say we drank up and left asap!!
Walked 2 mins down the road and had a lovely meal and served by a very professional lady in another hotel.
If your looking for shabby, run down, unprofessional the MacDonald is the place to go. Gordon Ramsay's Nightmare team would do well to pay a visit .

The Galleon Grill is a firm favourite in Tobermory. It specialises in Steaks, ribs and seafood all cooked on an open grill. It is only 10 yards from the harbour front.
We went to the Galleon Grill for dinner in search of some good red meat and they did not disappoint. We ordered a rack of lamb with stir fry veg and it was phenomenal. The service from the staff was very welcoming and extremely accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant when in Tobermory.

Chefs here in Spice of Mull always strive to deliver authentic dishes from Bangladeshi, Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisines. With years of experience and commitment to customer service, we hope to impress and satisfy all our customers be they locals our tourists visiting our wonderful Isle of Mull.
I suspect that this restaurant has cornered the market on Mull for Indian cuisine. We enjoyed the food we had (all from the Indian part of the menu). It is more expensive than I would have expected to pay on the Mainland for a similar meal, but it was worth it for a good curry fix.

I bought a box with individual selected chocolates each for my elderly mother and Aunt and both say they are the best chocolates they have ever had. Not cheap but each chocolate was eaten which in itself is praise indeed.

Enjoy stunning views over Tobermory Harbour or across the bay and out to the Sound of Mull. This charming hotel returned to private ownership in September 2008, and is now undergoing a slow transformation back to its former glory. If excellent food, friendly service and a great atmosphere are what you're looking for, then the Western Isles is for you.
The dining options on an island as small as Mull are as you might imagine, somewhat limited. So there is room for the grand dame restaurant sitting high above Tobermory harbour and impressing with its fare. Unfortunately, the Western Isles hotel restaurant is not it - yet - although it's clearly making efforts to be just that.
The restaurant has amazing views from the Orangery over the harbour and approaches to Mull. In fact, they must be some of the best on the island. The menu itself has certainly got a Scottish and Highland feel although it would be a bit limiting if you were staying at the hotel for more than a couple of days.
The food quality was good and the seafood is especially good value and quality with the largest and tastiest mussels I can remember eating anywhere. However, the service was patchy at best, with some of the order missed and some basic table management skills missing. That said, the waiting staff were pleasant, polite and pretty attentive. They could have known more about their menu and sourcing of product and a waiting telling you he doesn't know anything about the wines so can't really help is refreshingly honest but doesn't really help sell the restaurant.
What you come away with (at least in my experience) is the sense of a friendly family run hotel that does food but isn't passionate about it. They have a good venue but won't push it too hard. I think objectively, they are underselling their potential and I suspect steps are being taken to polish this diamond in the rough.
This restaurant has so much potential with basically good food which could be elevated from average/good to very good. However, the patchy service and good but not outstanding menu/delivery holds it back to an overall average score when it could potentially shine much brighter. So much potential so well hidden ... but maybe that's how they like it ?

Mishdish Restaurant and Oyster Bar, situated on the beautiful Scottish seaside town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Serving the finest of locally sourced fish and shellfish that the island has to offer.
We were worried as we had been told you have to book in advance for most eateries in Tobermory, being mid August. But on walking in, we had a warm welcome and we were offered a table. Bit quiet to start with, but soon filled up.
Enjoyable food, beer, good friendly service. Nice evening.
