Just a few meters from the beach of Kionia and by the archaeological site of Poseidon's temple, the "Tsampia" is one of the oldest quality taverns on Tinos. They offer a variety of plates, for meat, fish or vegan dining.Very good choice for dinner, yet it is just great to have lunch or early dinner after the beach, still wearing your swimsuit !!!

Fresh fish, local cuisine with creative touches, interesting wine list... and organized beach services just in front of Agios Focas beach...!
We went to this place with some relatives who have been eating here for years, back when it was humble taverna. Unfortunately there must have been a change of staff, because our experience was disappointing at best.
Bottom line. DO NOT GO HERE. You're better off going to a tavern that knows its place in the world. The food will be better and cheaper, and the staff will definitely be friendlier. And if they aren't, at least they aren't pretending to be a high-end establishment where one would expect superior service. Even if someone else offered me money to go there again, I would not.
Now I'd like highlight the reasons for my negative review and to give out some free recommendations to the establishment's management. (And really they should thank me because consultants charge a lot of money for this kind of stuff.)
1. When confronted with the statement "last year you had it" our (hipster?) waiter proceeded to argue in a rather attitudinal tone that they did not (props to him for not rolling his eyes because I know he totally wanted to). "I've been working here for years and I'm telling you, we NEVER had it!" Good for you my friend. What are you trying to prove, that your customer is a liar? Here's a first recommendation for the managers at Marathia, when your customer is insisting that you used to have something, whether you did or didn't is irrelevant. The correct response is "I'm sorry, unfortunately we no longer have it". You do not use an attitudinal tone to argue with your customer.
2. After finding hair in my food (and my mistake was removing it to examine it better, as I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was a string from the calamari flesh.... it was definitely a hair though, because I could feel the root a one end), I put the hair on the side of my plate and called another, friendlier, waiter over to ask, "I think this is a hair, but maybe it's part of the calamari?" He said, "no it's definitely not from the calamari. Good thing it wasn't in your food". I clarified that it was in fact in the food. But really, it makes no difference because: customer service lesson #2 - when your customer finds hair in their food you say "I'm sorry" and remove the plate from in front of them. Did they expect me to eat it after finding a stranger's hair embedded in the calamari?!
3. When your customer ask for the bill and you ask "was everything good" and they say no I found a hair in my food, for the love of God DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES "oh when we bring the food over from across the road the wind might blow stuff like hairs into it." Dear Marathia Management, here's a risk management lesson for you, if your food is at risk of contamination of flying debris in the wind, take a trip to the super market or do some online ordering to get some mesh food covers.
4. And finally, when someone finds hair in their food it is customary not to charge them.

Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of dishes, but very fresh products and well executed, in a nice typical setting by the water in the little port which has an amazing view. prices are market prices [sea critters are not cheap]
You cannot go wrong.

This is a wonderful oasis of a restaurant with a creative menu and wonderful food in a beautiful courtyard setting with very reasonable prices.
The restaurant atmosphere was great, the service was good.
However, we were disappointed with the food (it was the worst in all the restaurants we tried in 12 days in different islands).
We are vegetarian so we tried the veggie options:
- the beetroot taboulé and the sort of soup with pasta, tomato and cheese were good
- the wild artichoke was awful, it pricked the tongue like rotten fruits do, they told us it was because it was "wild" and not regular artichoke
- the fried courgettes were disappointing (there was almost only cheese, we could not feel courgette)

Symposion is a restaurant in Tinos town (Chora) and in Tinos island but when i make a research in the restaurants of Tinos don't appear. Giorgos Vidalis (owner)
At first, I was skeptical at visiting and having dinner I such a restaurant. I'm a kind of guy who prefers to eat in cheap and traditional taverna, rather than eating in expensive restaurants. However, I was fortunate enough to break this rule of mine and visit Symposion!
It is located in the main shopping street of Tinos and has a nice view of it, since it's on the first and second floor of a neo classical building. You can sit inside, outside on the first floor (5 tables in total), or outside on the second floor. Didn't have a chance to see the second floor, since due to strong winds the owners decided not to open it.
Dishes, as stated, are a bit expensive for my pocket. BUT, they are delicious as hell! We had the Tinos meatballs, the fried mushrooms, the fried feta with honey and the green bean salad (ambelofasoula).
Apart from the feta, which was more or less the same taste as any other restaurant or taverna (although they said that the feta was dipped inside rakomelo (raki with honey) and then fried, we didn't taste any rakomelo inside the feta.
Mushrooms was very tasty and the Tinos meatballs were extremely interesting, since they are made in a slight different way than the rest of Greece.
However, my world turned around and saw the "true light" of food when I tasted the green bean salad. It was marvelous!! Truly a revelation for me! We accompanied our food with rose wine, which that as well was fantastic!
Toilets were super clean and staff was very nice and friendly!
It's a must if you visit the island of Tinos! I would definitely visit it again!

"Limanaki" is a family business that combines beautiful Tinian flavors and Mediterranean cuisine in a wonderful environment with the backdrop of the "Planet" and literally means the blue waters of Panormos ...
Located on the small port, this traditional family run tavern has very good food and "mezedes" . We enjoyed the "melitzanasalata" eggplant salad and other fresh "mezedes". We also liked the small goat "katsikaki" with lemon sauce "lemonato" which was tender and cooked perfectly. The local red and white wine were both good! They also serve the local NISSOS beer , made on the island ! If you want fish, walk a bit further to "Marina", which is a fish tavern. We ate there too!

Home made Greek cuisine on a picturesque square of the old city of Tinos. A wide choice of starters and local plates, tasty and fresh greek specialities like kleftiko, cabbage dolmades, moussaka, soutsoukakia, giouvetsi, stuffed tomatoes, aubergines in the owen, char-grilled octopus, kalamari, sardines and fresh fish. Wine and raki from villages of Tinos.Beautiful old greek music on a cosy greek neighborhood between the orthodox church of Malamatenia and the catholic church of Agios Nikolaos. Open from 12 to 23,30.
Malamatenia is situated in a cobbled laneway behind the Poseidonio Hotel and beside a church.
Malamatenia serves up delicious authentic Greek food which all came out a little too quickly.
We enjoyed the grilled octopus with olive oil and oregano and the Klefido baked in parchment paper with potatoes and Tinos cheese was amazing.
The bean salad made of fresh local beans was delicious all served with Tinos house wine.
The meal cost us 42 euros.

The restaurant's location is amazing. Sea view, romantic, protected by the wind. The staff was polite, kind and eager to help. Fish soup is served as appetizer and ice-cream as dessert, both free of charge. However the food is pretty average. We ordered spaghetti with shrimps for two persons. The shrimps were small/medium size and kinda tough, while the linguini needed boiling for a couple more minutes to be considered al dente. And it cost 30 euros. Definitely not value for money, and definitely not the top restaurant in Tinos.

We visited this restaurant twice. The best dishes we tried: "keftedakia" (meat balls), their salad, tzatziki salad, chickpeas with greens. The only (minor) issue was that the second time (preferred for lunch), they were lacking some of the traditional dishes (something which was very reasonable to them...).
All in all a fair enough choice - not something extra-ordinary though for any reason...
How much you should expect to pay: circa 16 euro per person.

A Greek fish-tavern located in Aghios Fokas beach with fresh fish and sea food.
Nice food, beautifully presented
The waiter/owner did not win our appreciation as he did not accept our honest negative response about a dish.
A beef dish that should never have been served as it was too small and inedible as there was too much fat in the portion to be acceptable.
Also the wine was hot and they offered ice cubes to put in the wine (!) instead of a bucket of ice cubes to chill it!
Reasonable prices
Needs improvement
