Find out what German restaurants to try in Weimar. Weimar was quite the intellectual hotspot back in the day, with Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Lucas Cranach and the Weimar School all spending time here. Goethe groupies will enjoy visiting his home, his tomb and the museum dedicated to him. If you’re in search of great food, visit during the Weimar Onion Market, held in October. (Just don’t forget your mints.)

Got in the bierstube after carefully inspecting the surroundings. We were looking for something authentic and from the outside, this seemed the closest we could get to it. We got in and the atmosphere was striking. In every table locals relaxing and socializing and a general very German bierstube appearance. We were obviously the aliens there, and the fact that people noticeably started commenting on our arrival attested for this. We knew what we were in for and weren't expecting anything else but a real German eating experience. First thing I noticed while looking at the menu was the extraordinarily low prices. Even for a bierstube this place is really cheap, with prices for a meal ranging from 4 to 7 euro. I ordered the Poekeleisbein, my girlfriend and mom ate the Rostbraetel. The Eisbein was very tasty and I ate all but the bone, only to be sorry later. All that skin and fat proved to be something difficult to digest, even for someone who has a strong stomach like me - but I couldn't pass on the experience. Wouldn't make sense to eat Eisbein and leave the skin and fat on the plate anyways. The Rostbraetel was also good but nothing special. The service would have been extremely frustrating had we had the wrong kind of expectations for it. The waiter was more concerned about talking and having a few beers with his friends by the counter than to serve us, but this to us seemed like part of the bierstube experience and we just thought it was funny. It's probably important to note that we took it lightly mainly because we were not in a hurry. When we did come by, he was not too worried in being polite but ended up being charming in his own German direct and authentic kind of way, making a couple of jokes on the way. The people around were pretty interactive, again, probably due to fascination with our foreign appearance. People in neighboring tables (mostly older couples) tried to talk to us and help us choose our meal etc, which was very nice and said good things about the locals. On another note, some guys by the counter were pretty drunk and didn't seem too worried in hiding their attraction to the women in my table, although never being unpleasant or anything. So all things considered: don't come here if you want fast or polite service and a tourist-oriented experience, come here if you want to experience for a couple of hours the life of a Weimarer and the taste of authentic German food and beer. If you are a tourist be prepared to be the center of attention (mostly in a positive way), at least in my experience.

We went in to have a beer and decided to eat here. How lucky we did. The food was excellent as was the service. My husband's calves liver was superb as was my selection of bruschetta. It proved to be one of the best meals we had and it was our first nightVielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung!Wir freuen uns, dass es Ihnen bei uns gefallen hat.Bis bald!

The history of the Residenz-Cafe: The Residenz-Cafe has an over 160-year-old tradition in Weimar. This makes it the oldest remaining coffeehouse of Weimar. Although the history of coffeehouses in Weimar began 100 years prior to its founding, the history o
Pretty solid breakfast for reasonable money. Nice athmosphere not only in the morning.....you should try to avoid high season because it is packed with tourists..... Make a reservation or be just lucky. Would recommend it for breakfast and drinks in evening. Food for dinner is ok but there are better places on Weimar to have dinner.

We loved the little Weinbar in Weimar that is - while new - actually an old German gourmet shop. It was so nice we went two times. The new Weinbar stays true to this tradition. You can choose from an excellent selection of wines with new wines added every other week. Also there are just awsome treats of which we tasted just two (the cheese selection and the cold vegetables) and can wholeheartedly recommend them. The waiter was a lot of fun to talk to and had helped us too choose the wine. We will definitely come again when back in Weimar!

They do their best to prepare the meat well. However, we'd like to see some more vegetables and less meat on the dish - our ecological footprint!). Well presented, but not fine.

Where once was a shelter for carts and threshers we present ourselves to you today as a restaurant with a special flair in Kammergut Tiefurt. The historic building were rebuilt with great attention to detail. The result was a successful mix of old and new
We called into this charming converted carriage mews attached to a summer 'palace' in beautiful 'English-style' parkland. Despite the restaurant appearing full (rain sent all outdoor diners racing for indoor tables), Der Chef managed to magic up a table from somewhere and place it in a premier position by the huge panoramic Windows. We all chose 'Flammkuchen' which is a flatbread-type dish with a white rather than a tomato-based sauce. The 4 different flatbreads were delicious and very filling. We noticed that they also provided a range of steaks, cooked as the English would like (the locals like it nuked!). What we saw leaving the kitchen looked good and seemed to be going down well with the diners. The staff were helpful, cheerful, but didn't speak much English - nor was there an English version of the menu, so foreigners beware!Dear Guestswe wouldt like to thank you very much for your kind feedback an are very happy to hear, that you enjoyed your stay with us in charming and historical village Tiefurt. We are looking very much forward to welcome you once more and wish you in the betweentime all the best.

We are there fairly late after a concert. They were happy to serve ( other local places had closed kitchens) and will serve until late. The main food on offer is typical local food, variations on different meats with red cabbage/ sauerkraut and dumplings. Good beer as you would expect. Generous portions . Rustic atmosphere. Just what we wanted!

I had not expected to be so amazed by this little restaurent. Between old bottle, paintings from around weimar and the un countable tee pots lies a ambiance unique. I had superb meal, traditional food done perfectly. The service vas AWSOME. The owner has this garlic liquor that he makes himself that is really good. I recommend it if you want to eat a good home meal. I will definitely go back as soon as I can.

This is one of my familyâs favourite restaurants in Weimar. Quality of the mainly Thüringen-based dishes is consistently good, the service usually good, though sometimes a bit slow. So if you are looking for an authentic down-to-earth place to try Thüringer Kloesse dumplings or something else from the region, check this place out. Do not expect high-level cuisine and service, though. I do advise to book a table in advance and not to shy away from the hilarious dumpling-offering doll outside...
