Things to do in Zealand, Zealand: The Best City Tours

June 29, 2021 Nicolette Lion

Denmark's largest island is so much more than simply the home of the country's dynamic capital, Copenhagen. Zealand also offers a delightful array of holiday homes and villas, pleasing harbors and sandy beaches, fringed by forests where castles lurk. Major destinations include the UNESCO-designated, Dutch Renaissance-style Kronborg Castle in Helsingor and the Viking attractions, cathedral and music festival of Roskilde. To the south bobs a flotilla of beautiful and relatively untouched islands.

Experience the real Danish life-style by choosing a bike tour. One of the most prolific aspects of Denmark and Copenhagen is biking. Manager, CEO, mother, waiter, villain or hero, everyone bikes. It is fast, cheap, it protects the environment, and it keeps you fit. The purpose is to show you the city through the eyes of a local friend and not just a simple guide. There are some main tourist attraction points, which will be introduced to you from the inside perspective: their meaning and the importance they bear for the Danish people and the stories and myths that surround them. Our focus is to offer you an authentic experience of Danish culture and insights into what it means to live in and experience Copenhagen. Bikes are made available by a local bike store, 5 minutes walking distance from the meeting point (Kongens Nytorv metro station, Magasin du Nord, the metro exit near McDonalds). Bike rental is included. So let’s hygge! :)

Inclusions: Bike rental, Professional guide

Exclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, Food and drinks

My tour was a total disaster, not only the guide was late and we waited for him under the snow but he didnt even know the name or historical places in Copenhagen. After 24 hours in the city I knew more about the city than him. The tour guide is only good if you are interested in knowing the libraries in Copenhagen. I was so disappointed !!!!!!!!!

Although I know Copenhagen quite well, the Hidden Gems tour took me to places I wasn't aware of (like tucked-away backyards) or had never noticed before (e.g. historic buildings). I very much enjoyed strolling through Christianshavn, paying attention to details I am usually oblivious of and hearing about the history of the neighbourhood. I received helpful advice in terms of how to frame my pictures, from where to shoot, and what settings to use. My guide also taught me how to create lens flares which I found really cool. Thanks for an enjoyable and informative afternoon!

It really just felt like walking around with a friend who is truly passionate about Danish culture herself and together enjoying the beautiful places we were seeing. This tour option turned out perfect for the corona time when everything is closed because, even though you cannot enter the castles or the library or anything, there is a person who can describe it to you in a comprehensive and captivating way. Definitely enjoyed this experience.

Showed us a great variety of Danish foods and when we went to get our Danish hotdogs and everything closed she did everything she could to make sure we had our hotdog in whatever form we could find. Great conversation and lot of fun. Hope to see her again.
