Things to do in Yorkshire, England: The Best Farmers Markets

April 17, 2022 Hana Mouser

Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

What a gem! Minskip Farm shop and their new restaurant is well worth a visit. The fruit and veg in the shop is so well displayed and you will find niche products that are out of the ordinary plus gift ideas . The restaurant is FUN. Great decoration and the swing seating keeps the children happy for hours. And the staff are warm and welcoming . Outside you can visit pigs, hens, chickens and the sweetest alpacas. There is plenty to do, see , eat and buy for all the age ranges. We have made several visits to Minskip and the delightful owners, Ben and Emma, work hard to provide a great service and expand our experience. Well done to you both and all the staff. Mary and Les

Northern Dales Farmers' Market

Winner of Farmers Market of the Year and one of The Telegraph's Top 20 Farmers Markets in the UK. You'll find around 40 fabulous food stalls selling food and drink that's been produced locally. The market takes place on the first Saturday of every month, from 9am to 2pm. Not to be missed!

We went to Stokesley last Saturday and were pleasantly surprised by to find that not only was there a Farmers Market on but also a craft fair in what I believe is the town hall. Both were very good indeed and it was a pleasure to see local produce being sold by local people. The farmers market in particular was excellent with fresh fruit, veg, bread, eggs, scones and lots of other things, like chilli plants for sale. All the stall holders were friendly and welcoming and we had a thoroughly nice time. I just wish that our town had a market like this one - it beats the supermarkets hands down. Well done Stokesley !

Fountains is the best market cafe at the Oastler Shopping Centre and we love the variety of fresh food stalls inside, excellent butchers and greengrocers, fish stall, spice stall, superb European deli plus a traditional deli selling pies, sliced meats and pork products and a Caribbean grocer. Also a few street food stalls serving Thai and Falafel and the best kebabs. Other excellent stalls include the hardware man who sells just about everything. Excellent market which reflects the many cultures in Bradford.
