Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

A truly hands on chocolate making experience to all who are passionate about making their very own handmade chocolate. What more you get to take home your lovely creations home and enjoy it.
Nine of us from our local U3A landed in Karla's kitchen slightly later than planned, due to traffic delays. Karla was so welcoming and so calm as we had only an hour before going for lunch. She was so well prepared and we were soon making our chocolates and having fun. One of our number had more chocolate on his hands than on his ganache. She was so accommodating and wrapped all our chocolates we had made ready for collection after our visit to the Folk Musem. We are looking forward to a much longer workshop later in the year.BUT you haven't tasted chocolate until you have tasted Karla's chocolate. Delicious.

Myself and my Daughter (Alice) absolutely love Alice in Wonderland. When we heard about this place we were soooo excited to go. The teddy bear shop was fantastic especially since we have a bit of a collection of Steiff and Charlie Bears so we loved the shop. The lovely lady in the shop allowed us to keep our pram downstairs so we could enjoy the tea room. When we got upstairs it was excitement overload. The decor and the menu were just amazing! We went for the afternoon tea. We were so impressed. I can't recommend the place enough. Absolutely gutted that we dont live closer as we would be here all the time!!

Living over here in Ireland, the retro scene is small and very expensive, so I have to spend a lot of my days on ebay looking for stuff. Which would leave me skint for a long time, as ebay is a overpriced toilet. On may 2018, Friends and I went to London Comic Con and I had picked out what I had wanted. It was a Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour. I had searched the entire place and couldn't find one. I was super disappointed, so the night before the last day of the con, I had been back on ebay and bidded for a Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour, it was the console only. So the last day, I was wondering around with friends waiting for the bid to end and decided to go off on my own. So an hour went boy and WHAT DID I COME ACROSS ? Sore thumb retro games stall. HOW DID I MISS THIS ? So I literally ran to the stall and asked did they have "Pokemon PIkachu edition Gameboy Colour?" and they pulled out a boxed one and the minute I had it in my hand, I bought it straight up. These guys had so much pokemon stuff I was in heaven, They even held onto the n64 Pokemon edition for me too. Needless to say, ever since then, I've been a regular buyer from Lee and the gang. Everything is extremely well priced and it's literally retro heaven in there. I've been to the store itself in York(beautiful place) and got to see the full Store itself and I'm not messing, it was jammed packed, wall to wall of retro goodness. I've made it my mission to buy from Lee a lot more, as he knows the scene a lot better than the sellers on ebay, who ripped you off. Lee prices the stuff very well and it's worth your money. If you want an expert and reliable person to buy from, It's lee and the gang at SORE THUMBS RETRO GAMES. 10/10

The York Gin shop is in one of York’s most iconic buildings - the 16th century Sir Thomas Herbert’s House at 12 Pavement. The shop - selling all six York Gins and beautiful gifts - is opposite M&S and Shambles. Winner of Visit York Tourism Awards Shop of the Year 2020. Free tastings and a very knowledgeable, friendly team. Open seven days a week. Child and dog friendly. Full Covid safety measures in place.
We popped in here while lunching in York with friends who live nearby......there was plenty of gin tasting offered, 4 different gins, and the girls doing the tasting and selling were just delightful and great fun. A lovely way to spend half an hour.......recommend a visit.

York's largest Antiques Centre nestled in the historic and picturesque street of Stonegate, just a stones throw away from the Minster. With five showrooms spread over three floors and over 100 dealers from all over the country, we stock a hugely diverse range of antique and vintage items.
Lovely little visit to this antique center. Covid safe with an easy to use one way system. Great selection of items from many sellers, particularly in jewelry. Staff went above and beyond to help, especially to Wendy who really went above and beyond to find the right pieces we were looking for. Very well worth a visit.
