We booked a Localgrapher for a couples shoot in Arizona. The results were okay at best, and we regretted not seeking out an established local in the area. For the price, we received 60 very average choices and the ability to select 35 shots. We couldn’t even find 35 framed correctly. The localgrapher website is also a joke which requires a youtube video to figure out. The UI is terrible and the photos will disappear rapidly so do not wait to download (set aside a couple hours - that’s how bad it is). But really, just avoid. Hire someone directly.

Goldfish lanterns are literally goldfish-shaped paper lanterns, and the art of making them by hand is a traditional folk craft which has been passed on for many generations since the Edo period. Now they have become popular and known as a symbol of Yanai City. The story that has been passed down is that 150 years ago at the end of Samurai era, prosperous merchants in Yanai made this unique lantern with paper, bamboo and dyes used for traditional local fabrics. In those days, the lantern was primarily used for welcoming someone, but now they are displayed throughout the city to entertain people. In summer, the whole city including “white-walled street” is filled with Goldfish lanterns. The Yanai Goldfish Lantern Festival is held every year on AUG 13th near Yanai Station with large Goldfish floats being carried down the street. This workshop gives you a unique experience of coloring, putting fins and tail on lanterns. Please take this great opportunity to make traditional folk craft.

While we were sad to have to cancel our July trip to Japan due to the pandemic, we found the process of working with Japan Awaits to be easy and efficient. I can't speak to the full experience since we weren't able to go, but filling out the form and our communication with the company was no problem. And their prompt and courteous response to our request for a refund speaks to their professionalism. We will definitely come back to ask for their help in procuring tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum when we do finally make it to Japan! Fingers crossed for next summer.
