May 30, 2021 Rosalyn Ihle

Wilmington is a vibrant riverfront city and the most accessible coastal area in the state. The pedestrian-friendly Riverwalk winds along the Cape Fear River, connecting many of the city’s shops, cafés, and nightlife with waterfront hotels, parks and the Port City Marina. Annual festivals, such as Riverfest, Wilmington Beer Week and the world-famous North Carolina Azalea Festival, attract crowds year-round. Three nearby island beaches offer even more dining, attractions and water sports.

My wife and I recently visited the Old Wilmington City Market while visiting the historic section of town...(Downtown ) There are a number of shops and vendors inside the market selling everything from books, to artwork, handmade pottery, clothes, handmade wooden items, and even wine.... The Old Wilmington City Market is definitely worth a visit when you are strolling around downtown Wilmington. You might find something nice for yourself or for your home.....

The Cotton Exchange

The Cotton Exchange is like no other place in Wilmington to visit and shop! As a converted cotton mill, the buildings wind together to create a wonderful maze of stairs and twists and turns through this magnificenty restored building. Everywhere you turn there's a bit of history to absorb. There are shops all around and a few retaurants to enjoy as well. There is plenty of parking in the front with easy access to the shops. There are quite a few stairs to climb throughout the building, so know that before you go! I have been here many times and always find something new and enjoyable to experience here.
