We drove some 90 minutes to Poiana Pelegii. The road to the Gura Apelor dam is quite good, but then it gets bumpy and narrow, difficult if two cars have to pass in the same time. We drove by Cabana Rotunda, which I understand was the hunting lodge of the Ceausescu family in the 70s. It is now closed, but it looks nice from the outside. We parked our car at Poiana Pelegii (very crowded) and started our hike to Lake Bucura. It is a max two-hour hike, not very difficult and really worth-it. You do need hiking boots, as it is rocky, steep and slippery at times. There are two smaller glacier lakes on the left before reaching Lake Bucura at 2,041m. This is the largest glacier lake in Romania - it has clear, ice-cold water and is surrounded by mountains. From here there is another short path to Peleaga peak at around 2,400m. There were quite a few people camping near the lake, but the place was still quiet. We enjoyed our moments of silence and great panorama in the middle of nature.

It is a mystic place with a lot of stories. It is a natural beauty which is worthed to be visited . If you drive on an off road for about 5 km you can park near a camping place and from there you can hike for about 5 km on a spectacular forest path.

Incredible place near Timisoara, you have so much to see here. Over 33 hiking routes, over 700 caves and several beautiful waterfalls, just take a look at the photos.

Hidden in the Anina Mountains, Bigar Waterfall is truly spectacular. Its shape and plant carpet conquers anyone. The beautiful pouring of water over the moss carpet is a unique natural phenomenon in the world. Having the shape of a cone, the waterfall is about 8 meters high and has as its source an underground water source that drains on a limestone wall. There you have the opportunity to descend on a wooden ladder at the base of the waterfall or to admire it from a height on a bridge over the river Nera. You can take photos from many angles and discover indescribable landscapes. This is my second visit and I can honestly say that it is worth seeing.

I work here. The prices mentioned are waay more expensive. Maybe if yo hire 2 guides for each hiker you can get there.
