Bodhinagala Aranya Senasanaya can be reached by traveling about 3 miles from Ingiriya town and have to turn left from Bodhinagalaa Road. After traveling about one and half miles you will reach this place. The Dombagaskanda Forest Reservation where this place is situated was named in 1955.

On our first full day of bird watching in Sri Lanka our group (eight of us including guides) stopped by this park for a couple of hours. It was a great way to begin the tour as this park offered some of the more basic and common birds that we would see throughout our journey. The park is primarily a wetlands that is continuously being developed. A local park naturalist stopped by and gave a talk regarding the development of the park and the birds and mammals that could be seen in the area..

This area is the canal and wetlands where you can take a boat trip to spot wildlife. We had a morning trip from a company called Muthurajawela Visitor Centre, which was excellent. You ride on a small boat with a guide who has a keen eye and will spot the birds and other wildlife you travel initially along the canal and then out into the lagoon and wetlands. We were out for nearly two hours and saw lots of wonderful birds, monitor lizards, monkeys, a small crocodile and even jellyfish. It's a great morning out and very relaxing.

Thank you for your conservation work. It's neatly tucked away in a fishing village up from St Lavinia Hotel. Silver a local showed me around and was excellent tour guide.
