If you are ever in the west coast of Sweden, I can recommend a vistit to the rock carvings at Vitlycke museum in Tanum. They have guided tours with excellent guides and the carvings itself are very well preserved.

The big adventure at the Fortress of Karlsborg Exciting effects, cannons, gun shots, smoke and enemy attacks... A guided tour to remember! The Adventure Tour at Karlsborg Fortress Exciting effects, cannon bursts, gunshots, smoke and enemy attacks... The adventure tour at the fortress is like nothing else - more like an action film than a regular guided tour. The guided tour begins with a film about life at the fortress in the middle of the 19th century. Suddenly viewers are drawn into the exciting film and led through dark vaults and twisting passageways into the old fortress on a guided tour with plenty of adventure and special effects. The moat caponniere has an interesting exhibit with authentic settings from the 1860s. See the commander's home, with a cannon in the parlour, the secret restaurant and the vault of the National Bank, filled with hundreds of gold bars. You can also have a closer look at the commander's office, Bulta-Majas restaurant, and part of the armour. The adventure tour at the Karlsborg Fortress lasts about one hour and 45 minutes. Ticket sales and start for guided tours: The shop Fastningsboden at the fortress market square. Parking: lots outside the fortress, please follow road signs.

Bohus fortress is an unprecedented Nordic heritage. Forces from Sweden, Denmark and Norway has unsuccessfully besieged the site 14 times and during more than 700 years Kings, Queens, witches and saints have put their mark on the history of the site. Prisoners have suffered hellish torment in its dark dungeons and in the courtyard there is still a well, built by the toil of condemned prisoners. The fortress has been a ruin for the past two centuries, ensuring that its violent past is but a memory, today the site is a popular destination for excursions, far from gun smoke, witchcraft commissions and corporal punishment. Nowadays, foreign visitors are more than welcome inside its walls, where peace now reigns most of the time. Make a visit to the Bohus fortress, and be a part of the Nordic history.
We go here every 2-nd year about.. the fortress is really a fascinating place with lots of rooms to see, and lots of information about all the great battles that have taken place here. Well worth a visit!
