Coast Encounters

People enjoy exploring the many tidal pools of Maine, but do you know about the amazing critters that actually live in between the tides? Coast Encounters will take you on a unique, hands-on excursion where you will roll up your sleeves, get your feet wet, and discover the vast array of marine life that lies just beneath your feet. Participants must be at least 7 years old and in good physical health to crawl over very slippery rocks and seaweed. Each excursion lasts about three hours and is scheduled around the low tide time for that day. Though based in Wells, excursions may be in Kennebunk or Ogunquit. If sitting on a boat for hours squinting to catch a glimpse of marine life doesn’t appeal to you, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll peek under rocks, identify over 30 intertidal plants and animals, and learn interesting facts about each one. Most importantly, you will learn how to explore life between the tides in a way that is safe and respectful of its inhabitants.

Merriland Farms Golf Course

Reviewed By 5inavan - South Deerfield, United States

There were no flaws in any greens or fairways for this par 3 course that ranged from 63 - 119 yards per hole. The layout was fun, challenging, and had scenic views from many tees. We rented clubs as we used the 7 irons as well as the 9 and the putter. We didn't need the pitching wedge as we stayed out of the sand traps. It was $42 for us to play 9 holes including clubs (and 4 balls). We didn't lose one ball, yet found one on the last hole. Today I managed to beat my wife's score....

Wells Beach

Reviewed By Wonder42 - Saint Albans, United States

the Wells Beach is not a commercialized hotspot where you'll find lots of shops or boardwalks to walk along. When you go out to the beach on the right is rocks that will come out more and more as the tide goes out , with really interesting tide pools and great places to look for crabs , to the left is all smooth so as the tide goes out it's all just straight Beach. The sand is soft the breeze is wonderful.there is a place that sells ice cream and a couple of restaurants that are in hotels there's a beach store that sells things you might have forgotten and drinks and coffee but it is a little expensive. The trolley goes up and down and you should use it it's only a dollar one way, they only take cash.
