This is a site ( massacre of US Army POWs at the Crossroads nearby ) of historical importance to show how the situation can have a decisive impact on individual soldiers. Visiting the memorial site and the museum is a must see for every interested person in the Battle of the Ardennes. Fantastic collection of historical correct uniforms and equipment and very wel displayed. The audio system works splendid and is even overwhelming in its information in so far it can become to much. The uniformed mannequins, the equipment, armory, information, rewards, badges,.... highly informative. A MUST SEE!!! Friendly staff, top location, up to date and a small cafetaria in annexe. Don't forget to visit also LA GLAIZE museum with the kings tiger tank ( Königstiger Panzer ). Remember the hardship these men went through in the frostbite of the winter 1944 into 1945. So many got maimed, prisoner of war or lost their live. Respect

Buried at the foot of the Lion's Mound, the Memorial of the battle of Waterloo 1815 enables you to to experience one of the most turbulent times in our History... as if you were there. Dive into the heart of the battle, in a multi-sensory experience, full of special effects, the only one of its kind in Europe! 1815 m² of immersive journeying in a narrative set design which focuses on the experience of the battle! The Panorama is an impressive fresco with a circumference of 110 m and a height of 12 m, made in 1912. The painting puts you at the heart of the battle thanks to an impressive sound system. The Lion's Mound offers a unique view of the battlefield after a memorable ascent of 226 steps! As last authentic witness of the battle, the Barn of Hougoumont features a brand-new scenography made of 4 exhibition rooms as well as an impressive multimedia show.
I'm glad to have traveled to Waterloo during my trip to Belgium. To have visited the Memorial Waterloo 1815 as well as the Wellington Museum was a great opportunity to re-learn history. The exhibits, immersive scenery and what they call "multi-sensory" experience and the interactive trail make this memorial museum a must-visit and worth the bus trip from Brussels to Waterloo. I also had the opportunity to go up the Lion's Mound and watch their canon-firing reenactment (I'm not sure if it is a year-round attraction or just for June for the anniversary). If there were more time, I would have loved to visit the other three attractions included in the pass I bought. It included Memorial Waterloo, Musee Wellington, Napoleon's House and Mont St Jean. But if one is short for time, I think the best place is to see the Memorial and Lion's Mound!

The climb towards the ruins is pretty high over a cobblestone path. But when you're there it's so worth it. You can walk around, thru and over the ruins. They wil give you a paper with information.. al over the ruins are numbers that correspondent to a number on the paper, where you can find info about that part. Al the way in the front is a little museum, with a lot of stuff that they found in the well of the castle. Overal, its a pretty climb to get up there.. But so worth it

For the first time in Europe, a museum stretches out over 30 hectares. It is not simply restricted to one single building containing archaeological collections but rather is spread out in the forest, marked out by unique experiences, each one opening a different door on the past. It is you who creates your path, your own travel diary through time and space. The Prehistomuseum is: 1 classified cave 2 permanent exhibitions 2 temporary exhibitions per year 9 outdoor experiences 12 practical workshops 1 archeorestaurant 1 plain of mammoth games 8km of forest walks 1 attractive shop 1 auditorium with 170 seats Series of lectures 1 training and research centre 1 presentation area for companies The original and offbeat 30 hectare museum for the whole family.
I went with my toddler and baby for the activities during Christmas, and we loved it. The highlight was the visit to the dark cave. He did it twice. All the staff were very friendly and Santa was great with his stories and Q&A :) The only negative thing is that it was very hard to take the baby stroller to the cave and Santa’s place because a few parts were very muddy. Also, there were parts with gravel and the stroller was stuck. A few notes to parents: - if you have a baby with your toddler, you need to be two adults, one to stay with the baby outside so you can visit the cave with your toddler (mandatory to accompany the child) - in winter, the child should wear rubber boots because a few parts are muddy and slippery. - the place has a baby changer and stools for kids to reach the sinks. - the staff were very kind and allowed me to use a chair in their meeting room to nurse my baby.

Located close to the famous Mardasson Memorial, the Bastogne War Museum is the principal memorial dedicated to the Second World War in the Ardennes and Belgium with more than 150 000 visitors per year. Through the use of scenography, witness testimonial, multi-media installation the route through the exhibition appeals not only to the intellect but to the emotions, giving visitors the feeling that this story belongs to each and every one of us.
Visited with our two kids (7 and 9), and we all thought the museum was fantastic. For my generation and that of our kids, the events of WW2 are very removed. But when you learn about what happened, and that it wasn't all that long ago, it's a very humbling educational experience. The museum is really well curated, and the exhibition leads you through the lead up and events of this part of WW2 in a logical and very engaging manner. My kids liked their individual audio guides and especially the way the story is narrated by the 4 perspectives of the local boy, his teacher, the American soldier and the German soldier. The theatrical displays are really good (to give your mind a break) because there is just so much info to absorb and it is tiring. We spent 3hrs in the museum. It is scary that the events of today seem so similar to those in the lead up to WW2... We also visited the Verdun WW1 museum the next day, and it is incredulous that the world didn't learn it's lesson the first time round.

The museum is a hidden gem. Tucked away past the gardens of the Grand Plac. The whole family enjoyed the museum with its interactive displays and colourful history. It is reasonably priced and enjoyed by our whole family. We traveled with our kids who were 8 and 11. They loved it!! My son bought a wooden sword and wore it everywhere after. Slaying the doudou.
