Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

America’s oldest continuously operated show cave, voted #2 in America by Parade magazine, and a National Natural Landmark, Grand Caverns is a prime example of history and beauty. With our abundance of rare shield formations and history around every turn, come see for yourself why we are ‘Grand’.
I'm a cave explorer of nearly 60 years and I've also been in many show caves around the world. Grand is one of the best! The shield formations that are so plentiful in Grand are very rare. The cave is well-presented and holds many inscriptions of Civil War soldiers who visited the cave, many while camped just outside.

Discover Eastern America’s largest and most popular caverns. 4,000,000 centuries in the making, this “must see” U.S. Natural Landmark is noted for the profuse variety of formations and unsurpassed natural color. One hour tours from well-lighted, paved walkways lead visitors through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10 stories high. Enormous chambers are filled with towering stone columns, shimmering draperies and crystal-clear pools. Also in this subterranean wonderland, “hear rocks sing” as you experience the haunting sounds of the world’s largest musical instrument, The Great Stalacpipe Organ. Completely unique are the beautiful tones created by this one-of-a-kind instrument, which makes music of concert quality from the surrounding stalactite formations covering more than three acres.
My best friend was there 30 years ago with her parents and couldn't wait to bring her son and me and my daughter there to see it and as soon as we went down the steps into the cavern, I was in awe of the beauty that this natural wonder is. Our tour guide, Phillip, was a very knowledgeable and friendly young man that answered every question we asked and even have us some great ideas for where to hike in Shenandoah Valley when we asked him. The food concessions were very reasonably priced and tasty and the prices in the gift shop were surprisingly reasonable as well. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

A cave complex that is still being explored and offers more than five miles of mapped areas.
If you are looking for a quiet, well maintained, relaxing RV Park nestled at the foot of a mountain range in the Shenandoah Valley, this park is for you. YES, this park is everything the advertisements say it is and more. My wife and I were impressed by how quiet and in touch with nature the experience was. The staff is friendly and helpful. Frank and Sheri, the camp hosts expecially. Frank is constantly insuring everyone is having the best experience possible. They are both friendly and helpful. Of course, the experience is not complete without a tour of the Endless Caverns. Highly recommend this RV park.

Caves in the Shenandoah Valley that feature anthodites, rare rock formations.
Compared to Luray these caverns are much more real! Small spaces at times, beautiful lighting, only a mile walk! Our tour guide Christina was excellent! She was well informed, funny, and had a beautiful singing voice( you’ll find that out in one section of the cave) We learned so much about the history of the caverns, the rare formations that are here and only a few in the world! Everyone in our group respected each other’s space and there was no problem with social distancing! The tour guides are allowed to accept tips and Christina deserves a big one! The gift shop has great clothing, glassware, rocks, etc. to choose from and things are packaged nicely for safe transport in your car. These caverns are a must see, and don’t forget to ask for tour guide Christina!

We are open and following CDC Guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and guests. Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling visitors since 1922. It is the only Virginia cavern with elevator service, making it one of the easiest caverns to tour. It's also the closest major cavern to I-81 (Exit 269). Our famous bacon formations are so unusual they were featured in National Geographic. Personally guided tours through our 17 soaring rooms take approximately one hour. Also see our other attractions: Main Street of Yesteryear, American Celebration on Parade and the Yellow Barn (open seasonally) located 2 minutes from I-81, Exit 269, five miles north of New Market, VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Let the exploration begin! Please keep in mind that while Shenandoah Caverns does have an elevator, it is not considered handicap accessible.
My pictures were so beautiful of these canverns and at the gift shop their postal cards were plentiful and very colorful. I just loved this trip. The whole trip in Virginia was just great. There is so much to see in Virginia, I cannot wait to go back there again. We took an elevator into the caverns, which saved a lot of walking down. It was an easy, but long excursion. At the end, I wished I could go again. I wanted more. There are quite a few caverns in the area, I am sure they can't all be the same. I loved the adventure and beauty of it all.Surprisingly enough it was not humid, or hot. Quite cool, actually, but not too cool, to have to wear a coat. The narrator was full of information and interesting stories of old. She was very young, but very good and caring about us. We all enjoyed this a lot. There is a Old time museum in the same building, and plenty of parking. I would still love more of the same one day soon.

Caverns in the Shenandoah Valley that extend 34 stories underground.
Our tour guide was Ryan, very entertaining & knowledgeable! He was one of the best tour guides I’ve had personally. He even showed me a microorganism, that was so small you’d only know it was there if you’d been shown! Overall a great tour, I recommend wearing good grip shoes, & definitely keeping close to your guide to get the full experience. Thank you again Ryan!! I had a fantastic time! See you again next year!
