This former unofficial capital of France sits just 10 miles from Paris and is easily reachable by train. Even though the Chateau de Versailles has been known as the epitome of indulgent luxury for centuries, seeing it in person is a jaw-dropping experience. The chateau's magnificent gardens are free, but it's worth shelling out for a day ticket to see the interior—although it does make going back to even a fancy hotel seem rather humdrum.

I booked a full day tour of Versailles with my daughter and it was just perfect. I had many questions through email prior to our outing and they were always answered in a timely manner. They were always there to help. Our morning started out with a very nice Mercedes van picking us up and taking us to Versailles to meet our wonderful guide, Anna. Anna was very knowledgeable on every aspect of Versailles. My daughter and I learned so much and had the most magnificent time with Anna. If we had done this tour alone we would have been amazed still, but doing it with a guide makes a world of difference. There were so many details and things we would have never known if we didn’t have Anna. When the day was over our driver was right there ready to take us back to our hotel. It was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this company, they were top notch and did everything with ease and class. What an incredible experience!!!

My husband and I were on a short trip to Paris for his work. On the day he had mostly off, we had Frederic drive us to Bruges since we had never been to Belgium and the pictures looked amazing. After a very comfortable ride there, Frederic started a walking tour with us in the morning and we quickly realized the pictures did not do this quaint city justice! We felt like Disney had created this perfect little town for people to see. Frederic walked us around before we stopped for lunch together. He was going to leave us to dine alone but we asked him to join us because we enjoyed his company so much and we wanted to hear more about the city. After lunch, he gave us the option of having him continue to walk us around or we could explore on our own. We chose to explore on our own since we felt he had given us such a good overview that morning. We had plans to tour the Chocolate Museum but when we arrived, it was closed due to the time of year. We actually didn't mind much and we just spent the day wandering the beautiful streets around the canals and stopping for hot chocolate and waffles. I would highly suggest a visit to Bruges to feel like you have stepped back in time. Speaking of time, we toured in January and lucked out that it wasn't extremely cold. The crowds were very low so it was easy to wander the streets and sometimes we found ourselves the only ones exploring the small alleyways. I would definitely return to Bruges one day and would highly suggest taking this tour especially if it is your first visit or if you have very limited time in the city.

This hassle-free tour with private transportation ended up being a Godsend with the transportation strike and train schedules to Versailles being seriously "iffy." Who knows if we'd even made it there without Gustavo picking us up in his comfortable van? Once there, skipping the enormous line also proved worth the extra penny as Paris and sites like Versailles are growing in tourist numbers. Gustavo was interesting, polite and willing to answer all questions related to history, French culture and attitudes. He even set up a private tour of the apartments per our request. It's a long day, but Gustavo didn't overwhelm us with information overload and by the end of the tour, we felt we had made a new friend.

Le château de Versailles was the capital city in the 17th century. This is something new since the court used to be an itinerant one. Louis XIV known as the Sun king decided to leave the Louvre and settle down along with his court, family, clergy and ministers in Versailles. Thus its history starts with the transformation of the hunting lodge left by his father around 1661 and ends with the French Revolution in 1789. Historical facts and of course gossips about the french court played an important role in the life of this castle and my job wil be to reveal to you all those crunchy details. Once there, we'll skip the line as you enter with French Official Guide with credentials. Then on our way to the domain of Marie Antoinette,'Petit Trianon', we will walk around the sun king's gardens and admire the extraordinary work of Mr Le Notre. To make it more comfortable, we can reach versailles train station to go back to paris either by taxi or by taking versailles little train.
Inclusions: skipping all the lines, Booklets for children, excellent storyteller official guide, Private Tour
Exclusions: Entrance Tickets for castle, garden and petit trianon, transportation from Paris to Versailles, taxi or train from Maria Antoinette's domain to Versailles Train station, Private transportation, food

Our tour guide Paloma was very knowledgeable about arts and she had true passion for arts, which made a whole difference for us. We learned a lot from her. Without Paloma, the entire art collection would have meant nothing nearly as profound as this. Our 7 year old son truly fully engaged for the whole time and he probably learned more than all of us. Truly worth the money!
