Skulptur i Pilane is a sculpture park located at the beautiful island Tjörn at the Swedish west coast. In a spectacular landscape with pre-historic grave fields, Skulptur i Pilane displays artworks by leading Swedish and International artists. Each summer a new exhibition is showed. Experience sculpture, culture and nature. Walk by yourself or in a smaller group toghether with friends and family. Skulptur i Pilane is open during the summer season from the middle of May til the middle of September.
The sculptures are set on a hillside making great use of the natural features to enhance the impact. It’s a really good walk to enjoy too. We spent more than an hour enjoying the different views and creations. The main piece is visible from most of the park and it’s really striking.

Jump on 1 boat (or 2.. there are several options) from Göteborg city center, admire the beautiful scenery that the south islands archipelago offers on the trip down... and stop in Vrångö for a few hours. We took 2 boats to get there, approx 1 hour 15 minutes. And 1 boat back but it was much slower (1 hour 40 minutes...). We didn’t have to change at least. Vrångö is not a big island, you can easily do the few walks that are recommended, I believe the one that goes around the south part of the island is approx 2km, the one at the north is 3-4km. We went straight through as we had been told there was a really nice playground in the center of the island and we were travelling with 2 little girls (2 & 3 years old). Indeed, there is, and it is very nice! So they enjoyed a bit of play time there before we walked up to the little Swedish red house that you will as you walk towards the other side of the island. Not the easiest path to find, in between houses, but locals will direct you. Definitely worth the few steps that lead you to it for unbelievable views and photo opportunities. Lunch (fresh seafood and the best fish & chips) is at Fiskeboa. Only open in summer I believe. And then, make sure you go on the little 1.5km digestive walk (Tärnstigen) - a treasure. Boat back (1 hour and 40 minutes as I mentioned earlier) was at 2:20pm. The island has no cars... just small mopeds, it’s a beautiful day getaway. Definitely my favourite day in Sweden.

Karingon is a car-free island far out in the archipelago. There are almost 300 houses on the island but only 65 people live her all year. Fantastic salty baths, nice hotels and restaurants. It doesn't get better than this.
