The first thing to realize is that unfortunately the Trip Advisor listings for this area are incomplete. When you arrive at Åsby Hem you will be greeted by a (slightly confusing!) map which explains that within this area of Åsby/Skansen there are a number of notable places, of which the garden Centre is only the first. Before I go further, I have to mention the superb butchers shop selling local produce just around the corner (there is a sign next to the garden Centre to direct you) an accidental discovery for us, but fully deserving of its own listing. The garden Centre itself is lovely, with a very nice cafe. There are a good range of Home and interior products. If you like gardening (as I do!) and live close enough to buy plants from here (sadly I don’t) there is a good range to enjoy. As to other attractions mentioned by reviewers - we couldn’t find a playground (which we desperately needed having our busy toddler along with us), but it might be part of the camping area or further along. The little zoo has now closed - staff told us that there had sadly been incidents of visitors throwing stones at the animals. There is also a small museum, which we could not visit as it was closed at the time. Then the canal, with I am sure some pleasant walks in between. We didn’t have time to explore the area fully, but will no doubt be back at some point - if only to visit the Butchers again!
