Things to do in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: The Best Shopping Tours

September 13, 2021 Tonie Szymanski

The north Indian city of Varanasi, or Benares, is regarded as sacred by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. Situated in the fertile Ganga valley and on the banks of the Ganges, Varanasi is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus, who come to bathe in the holy river. Known as the City of Temples and a beacon of culture, Varanasi has produced many renowned writers. It’s also a center of silk weaving, so practice haggling at the chaotic bazaar for some beautiful souvenirs. Rickshaws are the best way to get about.

This tour takes you across the city of Varanasi like a local. Every aisle of this city has a different tale of its own. It's said that it’s the gallis (lanes) of Varanasi, too narrow for traffic roads is something that holds the charm of the old city. Don’t worry about getting lost because sooner or later you will end up in front of the river or on the main street. Feel free to pick up some souvenirs as you enjoy the streets of Varanasi. Walkthrough the main chowk often known as the traditional business square of the city and peep inside the shops and lives of people of Thatheri Bazaar, the metal crafters’ household goods market. Visit the various Saree shops and don't miss the famous 'Benarasi Saree'. Pay a visit to Panchganga Ghat, the embankment of the Five Rivers and if there is time the walk concludes at the temple to the fearsome Kal Bhairava aspect of Shiva, where locals and pilgrim alike pay their respect to the deity as the Eternal Judge of the City.

Had a great time ! Drive to the falls was breathtaking amid lush green forests. Jeep safari from the gate to the falls was the most memorable part of the trip apart from the Waterfall. Next we were taken to the spice plantation where we had a hearty lunch. Food was simple but very rustic. Loved the aroma! After that a guide took us on the tour of the spice garden and explained about the different varieties. I would like to thank Tripbea for this amazing experience and would strongly recommend this trip to everyone.
