I’ve tried several times to write this review, but due to some glitches didn’t save so I hope this one gets through. I had a guide and a driver, 2 very nice young men, sorry names are always a problem for me. Their English was very good but were keen to learn more. Very knowledgeable, and @ the Museum we had a museum guide joining us as well. Tashkent is still not as crowded as the European countries, quite green as well. I also enjoyed very much being a 2 way conversation, I was born and raised in a Communist country, so we compared the political and economical aspects and they don’t deny their country’s past with good & bad of course. Loved Tashkent, even tourism is still quite a new thing. I had a bad experience getting in Tashkent, having arrived like 2:30 am at the hotel and they didn’t not have a room for me. I was directed to another hotel that was more like a hostel and I was very cold and didn’t sleep for more than 24 hrs. Going on a full day tour didn’t seem like a great idea, but the arrangements were made. These young men really made my day. They took me to my new hotel at 5 pm and made sure that all is ok this time. Can’t thank them enough. ????

Recently visited Uzbekistan on a Solo photographic tour. The local guide Mr.Fayzullo was very very helpful into the entire trip right from the Welcome Smile at the airport to the departing hug. He has a keen knowledge and understanding of not just the Uzbek Silk-route History but also the other part of Silk route. He made sure to answer all my queries whenever needed. Spent almost 2 weeks and came back home with lots of memories and (3kg) of extra body weight after relishing some of the greatest meat dishes.

This was a fascinating tour, and Ayimtour were very well organized, making everything run smoothly. The vehicle was well-maintained and the driver and guide were very good. The food at the yurt camp was surprisingly abundant and good. A couple of things to be aware of (not Ayimtour's fault, just inherent in the activity itself) - some of the roads are very rough and there are long drives through some pretty boring scenery (all part of the adventure, but can be rough on the back). Also, it was pretty cold at the yurt camp overnight, but cosy inside the yurt itself thanks to a wood stove.

My tour of Bukhara was the highlight of my trip to Uzbekistan. My guide, Lola, was arguably the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure to sightsee with. She had an exceptional knowledge of the history and landmarks and her enthusiasm of the subject matter was infectious. She tailored the tour to my interest and was extremely patient as I nerded out taking photographs. I so enjoyed my day with her and hope to get her as a guide again on my next trip to Uzbekistan. The tour was effortless with hotel pick up and drop off. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Well worth it!!

9. Аncient Fortresses of Khorezm

Khiva, Uzbekistan DOCA TOURS

The territory of ancient Khorezm is literally scattered with the ancient qalas ("Qala" means fortress) that remained of the border towns of the state of Khorezm, which were built to protect against nomadic raids. Most of them served their purpose successfully until the XIII century, before the capture of the country by hordes of Genghis Khan. The population of the country was mostly killed or enslaved, towns destroyed, economy ruined and the fortresses were abandoned. During the Soviet times, archeologists took the interest in fortresses, partially excavated and cleared them, the most valuable finds were taken to museums and the ruins were left alone again.

Inclusions: All Fees and Taxes, Private transportation

Exclusions: Guide service, Lunch
