Uttarakhand (English: /ˌʊtəˈrɑːkʌnd/), officially the State of Uttarakhand (Uttarākhaṇḍ Rājya), formerly known as Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the Devbhumi (literally "Land of the Gods") due to many Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for the natural environment of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai. On 9 November 2000, Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India, being created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh. It borders Tibet to the north; the Province No. 7 of Nepal to the east; and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the west and north-west as well as Haryana on its south-western corner. The state is divided into two divisions, Garhwal and Kumaon, with a total of 13 districts. The interim capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, the largest city of the state, which is a railhead. The High Court of the state is located in Nainital.

If you are a history buff you LL really like this small museum. The 9-13th century idols from jageshwar dham have been placed here You LL see beautiful, intricately carved stone statues which will leave you mesmerised. It hardly takes 20-30 min to complete the tour but definitely worth it.

Kasmanda Palace is a unique living history museum constructed around 1836. One of the oldest surviving buildings of Mussoorie. It was a part of the Christ Church complex, which was built in 1836. Walking in the corridors will take you back in time with old picture of the Royal family and is also a mini natural history museum. Great views of the town and lovely gardens. A great day out.
The view is the best and awesome Must try tea with pakoras and the evening will be well spent Awesome place and must visit for mussoori

There is a silviculture museum, a museum covering different types of pests, a forest products museum covering products like medicines, wood products, gum, essential oils, ink etc, forest pathology museum covering how trees get destroyed by different diseases, a timber museum covering different kinds of timber products from the forests. The museums are truly world class and are useful for people researching in these areas, and also for general people. There is a single ticket for all the museums. One of the six museums was under renovation, so could see only 5 museums. Its a must see. Covers a wealth of information. Photos are not allowed inside most of the museums. Its located inside the campus of the beautiful FRI in Dehradun. Its a bit difficult to find them all so ask people if you need help to find them.
