The exhibition features artwork from the most important origami artists from all over the world. As opposed to a tradicional fine arts museum, here there is a crossroads between science and art. Many artists come from fields such as mathematics, astronomy or biology and they use the science of folding in their research and developments. The museum has a history room, contemporary artwork, a library and a gift shop.

Some of Uruguay’s most celebrated artists are exhibited at this national art museum, which features different types of art work from the country’s beginnings to modern times.
Free entry, some nice oil paintings. When you leave make a point of taking a stroll through the garden at the rear.

This impressive 20th-century building was designed by French architects and now houses a decorative arts museum with Uruguayan furniture, clocks, paintings and more.
This beautiful early 20th century palace, reminiscent of Versailles, now houses a decorative arts museum with Uruguayan furniture, clocks, paintings, and the most amazing colorfully-painted pianos imaginable. It looked like a baroque palace with lovely intricate plasterwork, beautiful wood floors, and hand-loomed rugs. It is truly a hidden gem—and entrance is free! All of the rooms—upstairs and down—were beautifully decorated and looked like a place that someone of great wealth had really lived. It even displayed family photographs and other personal items of the original owners. This was my favorite site in all of Montevideo. Don’t miss it!

Once the home of celebrated Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro, this eye-catching seaside Mediterranean-style structure is today a modern art museum.
The museum is absolutely worth a visit. The rich work of Carlos Páez Vilaró (1923-2014) is well presented. Furthermore his development as an artist is documented: His friendship with Picasso, visits to Albert Schweitzer, construction of Casapueblo with the help of many local friends and my stories more like the resuce of his son. This is a fantastic location at the sea that offers much variety up to drinks and snack. Best time to visit is about 1 hour before sunset: Enjoy the museum, visit the cinema, grab a drink and enjoy the ceremony of the sun: A marvellous poem during sunset, spoken by the artist himself. Best opportunity to do the best sunset photos of your life! If you can make it stay in the hotel for a couple of days and enjoy the beaches and walks e.g. Arboretum Lussich.

The work of local artists is creatively displayed in this museum that dates back to 1911.
A little bit understated this Museum has a great collection of best known Uruguayan painters since the XIX century. Set on "Parque Rodó" (a small version inspired by London's Hide Park) it's always worth the visit. Showing now the largest Picasso exhibition (must buy tickets) overseas you'll see it crowded.

The Ralli Museums is focused on drawing attention to the works of living Latin-American Artists. Additionally, it exhibits works by European 15th through 18th. Century artists, post-impressionism collections as well as paintings and sculptures representing other artistic trends. As a non-profit, private institution we do not accept donations or subsidies fromo either public or private sources. Nor do we engage in any kind of commercial activity; consequently, no dining facilities or museums shops are available in our premises. We hope you will enjoy this proposal as muchs as we have enjoyed preparing it for you.
This museum is a must visit place when in Punta Del Este. It has free entry and is full of bronzes in the gardens through which one can walk. There are also two floors indoors which has a collection of paintings and sculpture by some of Latin America's most talented artists complemented by works by Dali, Chagall and others. Of particular interest are the many caricature paintings of past and current day events. The Ralli Museum is set in a beautiful building itself. This is one of the best museums I have visited offering something totally different from what one would expect.

I have visited the Espacio on six different occasions and am always impressed. The art exhibits are typically thought provoking (on this occasion the one about the disappeared students of Mexico was captivating), while the attached natural history museum (though small) is well done. The building itself (former prison), however, is what makes each visit so amazing! I like to visit the Feria de Tristán Narvaja on Sunday afternoon, and then visit the Espacio. Makes a wonderful outing on a quiet Montevideo Sunday.

An extremely talented artist featured in a small museum. Really worthwhile. Small entrance fee. Ask for portable translators if your Spanish isn’t good.
