If you are near Salzburg on a clear day, don’t miss the chance to visit the Schafberg area and the surrounding lakes and villages (also known as the Salzkammergut). The views are stunning. If you have time, take the Schafbergbahn (the train station is in Sankt Wolfgang) which takes you to a fabulous lookout to the top of Schafberg, high above several beautiful lakes.

Hallstatt was always on my wish list to visit when I was travelling to Austria. Being one of the UNESCO world heritage most picturesque villages I was dying to see and experience this place I had been seeing on instagrams and other social medias online. the beautiful small, quaint town is surrounded by the serene lake where you can catch sight of elegant swans swimming around. the entire village is surrounded by hills. the better way to reach Hallstatt is from salzburg city. from salzburg city take a bus and train ride. the train stops at Hallstatt station from here only ferries can take you to the village. The village just looks like out of a postcard or fairytale. since it was December everything was surrounded by snow which gave it an altogether different charm. One word "Don't miss this place"
