Spanning 2,800 miles (4,506 kilometers) from east to west, the US is a vast patchwork of landscapes and metropolises. From Arizona’s red-rocked canyons and California’s coastal beaches to New York’s big city and Virginia’s storied past, it covers any topic any traveler could want or need.

Longwood Gardens

In 1906, industrialist Pierre du Pont (1870-1954) purchased a small farm near Kennett Square, PA, to save a collection of historic trees from being sold for lumber. Today, Longwood Gardens is one of the world’s great horticultural displays, encompassing 1,077 acres of dazzling gardens, woodlands, meadows, fountains, 10,010-pipe Aeolian organ and 4.5-acre conservatory. Longwood continues the mission set forth by Mr. du Pont to inspire people through excellence in garden design, horticulture, education and the performing arts, through programming that includes exhibitions, musical performances by leading artists, renowned horticulture education programs, horticulture research, environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Though May is somewhat of an in-between time, Longwood never disappoints. The indoor conservatory is always "in bloom"with different plants and flowers every season. The fountains are fun to watch...the gift shop is lovely (though a bit expensive)...and the restaurants are always good - mushroom soup to die for.

Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial

The Huntsville Veterans Memorial, dedicated on Veterans Day, 11.11.11, honors and pays tribute to all veterans for their "Courage", "Sacrifice", and "Duty". The Memorial has become a hallowed place that inspires visitors to reflect, remember and honor veterans. It provides an educational venue to teach visitors about our military past, the cost of war, and sacrifices made to ensure our freedom.

This is a very peaceful, serene, and clean memorial dedicated to all branches of the US Armed Services. The main memorial consists of individual monuments to the great wars from WW1 through the Gulf Wars, with historic timelines throughout, while the pathways behind consist of bricks and benches dedicated to individual soldiers, platoons, and groups who served. The American flag can be seen for miles as you enter Huntsville, and the accompanying flags are always stately flown alongside just a tad lower. What a great place to spend a lunch hour, or a great stop along the way to downtown Huntsville's other tourist attractions!

Vietnam War Memorial

Reviewed By dnaleciz - Moreno Valley, United States

During a recent trip to "Little Saigon," had the opportunity to visit the Vietnam War Memorial. As a former soldier, who spend time serving in South Vietnam, this was a very difficult memorial to visit. During my years in Vietnam, I lost many good friends, both Vietnamese and American servicemen and women. Those deaths still haunts me to this day. The Vietnam War Memorial in "Little Saigon," Westminster, California was dedicate on April 27, 2003 at Sid Goldstein Freedom Park. It features two bronze 15 foot high statues of soldiers, (a South Vietnamese and an American soldier) standing together atop a black marble base arranged in a semi circle. The flags of the United States of America and the Republic of South Vietnam are flying behind the soldiers. In the center is an "eternal flame'' bronze urn surrounded by a moat and iron fence. There are no name inscriptions on the memorial. This memorial pays respect to those 58,178 American and 300,000+ Vietnamese men and women who fought and died during the 1961 - 1975 Vietnam War. Around the circular memorial, one will find a park with shade trees, rose bushes, park benches, a playground for children, and restrooms. A quiet place to reflect on friends loss during the war. For me this visit to the Vietnamese War Memorial is step towards healing the wounds of war. Recommend that everyone should visit this memorial and spend a few moments honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the War.

Coolidge Park

Named in honor of a World War II Medal of Honor recipient, this seven-acre park features a restored hand-carved carousel, pavilion and interactive play fountain.

Coolidge Park is a must for us every time we visit Chattanooga. Our 3 small dogs pout if they don't have a walk here. Despite a sign at the entrance (which we didn't notice at first), it is actually dog-friendly. We have often seen other people with their dogs. It's a beautiful park, has restrooms, splash pad (during hot weather), plenty of doggy-bags for cleaning up, and the park is immaculate. We always meet such nice people when we visit. And the view of the river is awesome. If you have children, they have an enclosed carousel, which is vintage and beautiful. Highly recommend it!

Seattle Center

Connect to the extraordinary at Seattle Center, an active civic, arts and family gathering place, centered around the International Fountain, in the core of our region and the site of the 1962 World’s Fair. More than 30 cultural, educational, sports and entertainment organizations that reside on the grounds, together with a broad range of public and community programs, create thousands of events on the 74-acre campus and attract over 12 million visitors each year. At Seattle Center, our purpose is to create exceptional events, experiences and environments that delight and inspire the human spirit to build stronger communities. Activities at the Center generate $1.15 billion in business activity and $387 million in labor income.

A lot of attractions are located at the Seattle Centre, and then some. We were coming here mainly for Chihuly Glass and Garden, the Space Needle, and the Museum of Pop Culture, all within walking distance of each other. The monorail ends/starts here. There is also the Pacific Science Centre, McCaw Hall venue (ballet, opera), the Armory (Food Court, festivals, activities), and free venues like the International Fountain, Artists at Play playground, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Centre, gardens, etc. It's the site of the 1962 World's Fair so it's a place of historic significance. Lots of tourists come here but it is also a community gathering place where festivals, movies and concerts are held. When we visited after Christmas, it was Winterfest, with an electric train complete with village to admire in the Armory, plus daily free performances on stage inside. Loved the festive vibe and would come back here again!
