Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Reviewed By BhattiSherry - Jinja, Uganda

The gorilla trek (and TRACK also- since we were actually being guided by the scouts who were tracking the family in real time!) was a totally awesome experience which is unique to this part of the world! The trek involves steep ascents/descents and demands good physical fitness. The one hour stay with the gorilla family is memorable and is a lifetime experience. Some tips:- 1. Wear good trekking shoes which are ankle high. If not available, ask your lodge in advance to arrange for gumboots from the UWA rangers at $10 per pair. Absolutely necessary, do not try to trek in sneakers/normal shoes. 2. Carry 2 litres water per person. If the sun is shining, it can cause dehydration fast. 3. Hiring a porter is useful particularly if you are not at the top of your fitness or are middle aged. He carries the backpack too. Cost is $15 but most trekkers pay more because of the superb assistance. 4. A rain jacket is necessary, it can rain anytime. 5. Nkuringo sector is the toughest trek but the most rewarding. Buhoma and Rushaga are comparatively easier. 6. It may take as long as 6-7 hours before return, so carry energy bars as well as the packed lunch provided by the lodge.

Gorilla Bookings

We organize great safari holidays that will reward you with great memories. in Uganda and Rwanda

Reviewed By Seaside072036 - Sydney, Australia

I travelled in September on an 8 day safari as a solo female traveller. Any concerns or questions that I had prior to my trip were readily responded to by Justus. My fabulous and enthusiastic tour guide, Allan, made the experience a memorable one. He consistently gave 100%, was fun and knowledgeable. I learnt so much about beautiful Uganda, it’s friendly people and amazing wildlife. I felt safe throughout the entire journey , found the accommodation selections good and the tour vehicle was comfortable. The highlight for me was the gorillas but I also loved Murchison National Park. The only thing I might change if I were to do it again is to cut out one of the long day drives by adding a flight either at the beginning or end of the tour. I have no hesitation in recommending a tour of Uganda with Gorilla Bookings. Thanks for a great tour Gorilla Bookings and Allan????

We had a few days in Entebbe before embarking on our birding and gorilla safari, so headed out to Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary. Well worth the visit, learnt a lot about chimps, had a wonderful boat ride on Lake Victoria crossing the equator each way and spent quite some time observing the bird and reptile life along the shore line of the island....a most enjoyable day!!

We stayed for a night at the guesthouse and then did a morning walk. - the staff were very friendly and helpful - the food was very good, and beer was available - the accommodation was fine - the best thing about staying on site is that the rhinos come and sleep just outside the guesthouse - an amazing sight in itself! - the guides were great and very knowledgable - seeing the rhinos from 20m away was just amazing, words don’t really describe - we saw 6 in total (including Obama, the dual nationality Kenyan-American rhino) All in all and incredible experience. Great value and well worth every penny spent - especially considering it’s all going to a good cause, which seems to be managed well.

Budongo Forest Chimpanzee Tracking

This trek was one of our groups highlights as we (22 of us, all ages) trekked thru forest for a chance to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Our guides were helpful, knowledgeable and careful about the forest. By staying somewhat still we were rewarded by having the experience of seeing the chimpanzees swing and climb thru the trees, sit in the trees, and watch them eat their lunch.

Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary

Reviewed By Rob6594 - San Diego, United States

We had a wonderful time touring the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary with our excellent guides Joseph and Jimmy. They were truly outstanding in their knowledge and expertise! Both men were very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Joseph knew many bird calls and it was nice to hear him call out and have birds respond. We saw an expansive variety of plants and animals (birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, and invertebrates) on our 3-hour walk, making this trip a very memorable one. We were also able to hear about Joseph’s youth club, the Kibale Conservation Club. It was really cool to learn about efforts going on to educate children and young adults about the importance of environmental science and wildlife conservation. Thank you Joseph and Jimmy for allowing us to have such an amazing day!
