Large, impressive facade that dominates the view of Neiafu's main street. Interior not as grand as the exterior would suggest. Nice place to pause and pray if that's your thing.

Whilst being under promoted and protected, the royal tombs are an intriguing historic site that would be a major attraction in a more visited country. It is great to just get out of a vehicle and wander around, exploring an inhabited village intertwined with ancient monuments. It isn’t Machu Picchu or the Angkor temples, but anyone with reasonable expectations would understand and respect this place and its importance in South Pacific history.

This mysterious 11th-century stone arch weighs about 12 tons and is made up of three large slabs.
I was taken here by my tour guide and marveled at the structure for some time. My tour guide had excellent knowledge of the history of the stones. Great piece of history. Its almost like Tonga's version of the stone henge.
