Tradition collides with pop culture in Tokyo, where you can reverently wander ancient temples before rocking out at a karaoke bar. Wake up before the sun to catch the lively fish auction at the Tsukiji Market, then refresh with a walk beneath the cherry blossom trees that line the Sumida River. Spend some time in the beautiful East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, then brush up on your Japanese history at the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Don’t forget to eat as much sushi, udon noodles, and wagashi (Japanese sweets) as your belly can handle.

If you like to listen to serious jazz in a cozy setting, Alfie is definitely the place to go in Tokyo. The stage is up close and personal, so you'll literally feel the vibe of the musicians. Music cover is 3500 yen to around 5000 yen, and you need to order a drink or two. They have some food also which is decent for its money. For a jazz club of similar size & vibe, also check out Body and Soul in Aoyama / Omotesando area.

First, this bar seat easily, 20-30 people, so ignore the IDIOT that stated the bar seats 8 people. I suspect he was drunk when he posted feedback. I've been to this bar likely 10-12 times last few years. When in Asia, I always try to stop by Tokyo, especially Shinjuku. This bar uses audio equipment true audiophiles admire, the owner takes enormous pride in his quality of music, accuracy of music, and is passionate about the quality of the drinks he serves. I've visited tons of Album bars in Asia, Soul Stream sets the standard. I have taken colleagues here, walked others in Shinjuku I met to spend an hour or so here, they rave, they understand how special this place is. Do yourself a favor, reserve some time next time in Tokyo to have a few drinks here. Take note of his turntables, his speakers, his passion, its a VERY special place.

This is an amazing gem, it’s nice and cozy so if you come during a busy time it might be a little tight inside. But that should show you great this venue is. I’ve only gone on Sundays which is open night where talented musicians come and jam out together. The drinks are super inexpensive. At the time of my visit there was a cover fee of one drink. So it basically free lol. I had there house brown ale, I wish I could remember what it was called but it was delicious. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU ENJOY THE JAPANESE JAZZ SCENE!
Nyx is a bar close to Nishi-Azabu crossing where you can leisurely enjoy great wine while listening to jazz.
