It was during a blizzard in early February and outdoor sightseeing was out of the question so we tried Kamo. This is quite an impressive complex of indoor aquaria displaying all manner of fish, plus a couple of outdoor pools with seals and sea lions. The highlight though were the jellyfish. So much to discover about these widely varying creatures, and a guided tour behind the scenes to see how they are bred and cultured. Well worth a visit.

If your kids can walk by themselves, the place will be good for you because the Zoo locates a mountain. They can run and walk all through the park to see so many animals. The Zoo is not huge place but big enough for young kids and family. Walking shoes recommended. Takes 30 minutes by taxi from near Sendai station. Next to the Zoo has amusement park, too. That is why if your kids have energy to visit there, it will be another fun event for your kids.

Truly wonderful aquarium, with lots of things to see. I am particularly impressed on the section showing how some of the commonly seen seafood are being raised in the Mutsu Bay here in the aquarium.
